    Florida Anchoring rights

It is very important to remember that many and I mean many maritime laws pertaining to "casual" boating are written from circumstances from boaters within our Florida waters, and these have become representative in many other states.

    Atlantic Hurricanes - 2011

The one certainty about these "predictions" will be that home owners insurance rates will be affected by this. Our costs continue to rise in Florida, and when these statements are made.....insurers use it to their advantage.

Looking for a good cookbook for fish.

The Commander's Palace Restaurant in New Orleans has THE cookbook for all seafood, and of course the Cajun touches to many of them are exceptional.

    How to handle rough seas

If I may add, the greatest asset to any boater is the loss of "EGO" I went on a number of trips with a friend, and he was a guy who would go all out and everyone be damned when he ran his boat. Well his ignorance caught up to him and he lost his boat in bad weather when he told his fishing pals...

    2 stroke oil

I have always used Yamalube for my outboards. I currently own my 6th boat and 5 had Yamaha's. Maybe I was lucky, but I have never had any problems related to oil. So I am partial to the Yamalube Product. It does cost the extra .05, but well worth it.

PEARL HARBOR - THANKS ED AND OTHERS

I recently watched "Band of Brothers" and it got me thinking about my Dad, who served in the 2nd Army, 9th Infantry during WW2. He had made a scrapbook of his time during his service, and I found a number of letters home to his Mom & Dad. One of these was dealing with the loss of a close friend...

Fishing Boat Carrying NFL Players Reported Missing in Florid

Growing up on the West Coast of FL, this story hits very close to the heart. Reading some of the details, I was thinking that being at anchor in 8' swells was unsafe, should they have had a Sea anchor rather than anchoring to bottom? I guess at times like this boaters can learn from accidents...

Not at all, Greg. Anyone is quite welcome to hang around as long as they heap praise on us and our wonderful boats and don't ever mention whatever other piece of crap they might own. _________________ Wow, must get tough being stuck in the cabin for the long winter!! Somewhere along the way...

    Ft Myers.

Ah, Ft Myers my home town!! There are many great things for boating in this area especially in the winter months. A lot of great short day trips out to the islands and to the Naples area as well. The marina has a very good reputation and it is very reasonable, $28 w/water/elec. for a 25' boat...
