Atlantic Hurricanes - 2011

Predictions are again for more Atlantic hurricanes this fall (they predicted more last year, and they were correct, but we were lucky that they didn't make landfalls).

Good tale to read for those C-Brats along the Atlantic or Gulf coasts. A prediction carries no certainty, as we all know, but it is a good heads up.

Both tropical storms and hurricanes have occured before June 1 and after Nov 30. So those dates are not engraved in stone.

What cannot be predicted a long time ahead is the steering currents, which will direct the course of a tropical storm or hurricane. These seem to be fairly good out 5 to 7 days, and quite accurate 3 days out. But intensity can change--even overnight from a 2 to a 5 and visa versa.

We, as usual, pray for no storms to strike the gulf coast. There have been very long peroids in the past when we have been free of hurricanes. However, both the individuals and the neighborhood as a whole are getting prepared for Hurricane season....

The one certainty about these "predictions" will be that home owners insurance rates will be affected by this. Our costs continue to rise in Florida, and when these statements are made.....insurers use it to their advantage.
