C-Dory Sightings

Mid afternoon on May 30 Marie spotted a C Dory 22, with Gray trim traveling West Bound on I 10 in Louisiana. The name on the boat was "Survey"--and I suspect that it may have been used in some survey work....since there is no C Dory name under "Survey".

A friend of mine call me, he saw 2 C-Dorys at Oak Island NC on the ICW heading North towards Wimmington. that was Sunday June 3 He did not get any names I wounder who they were????

A great day on the water today on the whale watch boat!

On the way to work, I saw a CD-16 with a nice camperback being fitted from the canvas folks here in Friday Harbor (looked great, btw). That same canvas shop fixed one of our camperback panels that had pulled apart at the zipper for a very reasonable price.

While on the west side of San Juan Island, we saw a lovely blue hull Ranger Tug as we headed north.

The weather weasels were wrong, and it was a beautiful day in the San Juans. :hot

Best wishes,
Jim B.

My son-in-law just phoned me and said he saw Retriever (Sam) bombing by this afternoon up north.

He was in the middle of landing a 185lb halibut. His personal best. Makes my 85 lb'er look like bait.

We're usually up and down the intercoastal by Oak Island, but it wasn't us. But we saw a green C-Dory go under the Oak Island Bridge that same day.

The Chesapeake Bay was a delight after all the NE winds that kicked her up for the past week with Small Craft Warnings(+).

No C-Dories sighted here on the Lower Chesapeake Bay; but does 2 dolphin pods count? We encountered them off Cape Henry, Ft. Story this afternoon.
The dolphins were well fed, but the fishermen, zipppppp.

We also saw 2 groups of 3 military hover craft, each performing exercises. I checked and they were not C-Dories either. For that matter, neither were the Va. Beach city marine 26' police patrols or the USCG 41 footer. And no, I was not boarded, this time.

I saw a C-Dory 22 south of Lopez Island today while out on the whale watch boat. Didn't get close enough to see a name. It looked to be a light gray stripe.

It was a spectacularly beautiful day: calm water, lots of sunshine!

No photos - one of these days (on a day off) I'm going to go out on the boat as a passenger, so I can take some photos. Today would have been ideal for that. 8)

So, was that boat one of the C-Brats?

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Saw Hunky Dory today at the south end of Wrangell Narrows today and then in Petersburg. Not Jay And Jolee, but Dick from Pennsylvania. There's a chance the two Hunky Dorys and Retriever will all be in the Tracy Arm vicinity in a couple of days...perhaps we'll have an impromptu C-Dory gathering.

Had lunch today at a cafe in cle elum. I had on my c brats hat. A gentleman from spokane came up to our table and talked about c brats and boats. His friend has the CAVU. This fellows eyes sparkled when he was talking about the adventures he had with his buddy on board his boat. It was neat.

Just witnessed Dick from PA in Honky Dory pulling into Auke Bay Harbor. You would have been able to add me to the meeting in Tracy Arm as we pulled anchor on Tuesday afternoon.

Saw a sweet "little" 16 headed south along Hood Canal in Hoodsport WA on Friday afternoon. Named "Nine Inches". Now idea where a name like that came from. BTW, the Hoodsport grocery store next to the Shell station has Naniamo Bars

I spotted a 25, Whimsea (sp) in PT Boat Haven, tucking in for the night, in route home after some time at Friday Harbor. Owner says he is acquainted here, but hadn't checked in for a while.

Sure had nice canvas work.

It was a great day in B'ham. The sun was out and the water was good. So we went out to Chuckanut Bay to anchor, read, have a beverage. When we pulled into the bay, we saw a 19 angler anchored. No name but it had all the classic lines of a c-dory.
