C-Dory Sightings

Joe and Ruth it was great to spend time with you. In this small world of ours it was fun hearing you and our neighbors talk about mutual friends that you folks know. Thanks for the welcome aboard last evening. (I'll be keeping a "lookout" for any homes available for you in our neck of the woods so you too can be close neighbors of ours!)

Yesterday, I saw Tom and Susan on their CD-27. I was driving the whale watch boat, had two radios going off, and the conditions were lumpy on the southwest side of San Juan Island. I called them on Ch16 after we passed, but didn't get a response. When I got back to the office, Joan told me that they had stopped in to say, "Hi."

I called for "Susan E" on the radio, 'cause no way in hell was I going to hail "Big Susan."

It makes me think about friends of ours who have a sailboat. Her name is Sue... he named the sailboat "Lazy Susan." She does one of these every time someone mentions the boat name:

Your timing was good, Tom... an hour later, the conditions had "lumped up," even more.

I was down at Hilton Harbor today in Bellingham and saw Gypsy River at Bitterend Boat Works. Hopefully getting a service for more cruising.

In Lund overnight, we saw a 16 cruiser launch and head for savory island. Missed the name green trim. Later saw 16' angler "pocket yacht" alongside the mother ship. Had a chat with the owners who are out for a couple months. Lots of admirers alongside today. George

Spent last Friday morning riding with Rick on the Foggy Dew off Ediz Hook, Port Angeles, and watching a nice looking 22 Cruiser, older with the wood door and grab rails up top. Met the owner Capt Dwayne and Commander Bob in the Parking lot after the trips. WOW, it looked good on the water. Looked really good close up. It was an 84 22 Cruiser. Still shinned like new and had a real Ship style spoked wooden steering wheel. The boat name -- Educator. Been a lot of that going on there for the last 23 years. Always stored inside and it sure looked it.

Good to meet you Dwayne and Bob, good fishing and be safe.

Saw an Angler (blue or grey?) headed out of the Choptank River below the Rt 50 bridge yesterday. She motored past the crowd anchored to watch the hydroplane races. Tried to hail her but no response.

Yes, that was us (a 96 Green Angler) headed to the beach down the river. We live a couple of miles up river from the Choptank bridge in Indian creek. Let me know when you are back and we can meet somewhere in the river.

I was at the Sloop in Ballard today after stopping by my boat at the Locks. A 22 went by eastbound on a trailer, maybe 7:30 pm, but it was too dark for my slightly colorblind eyes to tell the color. Must have been out fishing?

Stopped at a small watercraft launch on the north shore of Lake Superior. Low and behold a 22' Angler named Kro's Nest had just pulled out. Chatted with the owner for a little bit.

Wow! About 5 am this morning while we were at the grocery store here in Bandon, Oregon, we observed a C-Dory entering the parking lot. Chatted with the owners who are going tuna fishing in their 1991 21 foot C-Dory Angler. The guys said they've been 60 miles off shore fishing tuna in that boat. They love it. I took photos that I'll post after I get them downloaded. Name of boat is the SANDRA L ......and they're the 3rd owners.

My son just called from Whittier harbor. He told me that the CHILCAT a 22' C-Dory bow picker had just been pulled up the ramp.
I believe there is only one bow picker CD. Anyone know. It was for sale in Anchorage for several years. Unusual boat.

I was checking to see if any C-Dorys were anchored in Andrews Bay on Lake Washington. Lots of big boats but no C-Dorys. Then, out from a line of big boats comes a beautiful red striped no-name 16 foot angler. We pulled up to each other. He shouted "I like your boat". I shouted " I like your boat" We both smiled and puttered off in different directions. :thup

Marty, you're supposed to say: "Pardon me sir, but would you happen to have any Gray Poupon?".
