Yellowstone lake

Will there be any C-Brats in the vicinity of Yellowstone besides us in the next week? We are arriving tomorrow afternoon and have a slip reserved at Bridge Bay through July 27. It would be fun if we could meet some fellow C-Brats while we are there.

Gary

We would have enjoyed meeting you, but we'er in Denver with new grandchild & won't make it to Yellowstone until about Aug 14 th & then plan on having the boat there till the end of the season.

Jay

Look for Yellow Stone John--Boat name is Far West. He generally keeps the boat up there for the entire summer. I have not heard from him lately, and he does not always keep up with the forums. John is THE source of information about the lake. He knows it as well as anyone. Don't miss a chance to meet up with him.

Out of curiosity, would anyone be interested in a GT at Yellowstone next year? Maybe as a pre-Powell event.

I've never boated there, but would like to explore and fish it.

Yes & this year we will be going from Yellowstone to lake Powell too. Next year hopefully, Alaska-Yellowstone-Powell. The last official Lake Yellowstone Gathering was in 2008 & still a favorite of ours.

Jay, let's see if we can get one going. I'll see you at Powell, and we can talk about it.

Darn it, We are leaving for the west coast of Vancouver Island for our annual salmon fishing trip next Tuesday otherwise we would like to meet up with you.
We live only about 90 miles from there.
You might run into Kevin O on his 22cruiser named Grace. I believe he moored his boat at Bridge Bay for the summer.
A gathering at Yellowstone next year sounds like a good idea to me.

We made our stop at Yellowstone. We spent seven nights on the boat. I caught several nice Yellowstone cutthroat but no lake trout. The weather was pretty good. Had some strong winds a couple of days but it only rained on us once and it was in the late afternoon.

We got to visit with Yellowstone John and Edna with the boat Farwest II, and Kevin and Laura with their boat Grace. We first met these nice folks two years ago. We met Jody Kidd and his dog Ellie for the first time and really enjoyed the visit with Jody

Jody demonstrated his drone for us and took some great video with it. I just hope he posts some of it.

This was probably my last visit to Yellowstone. COPD and high altitudes just don't go togather. We are now on Lake Pend Oreille and the 2000' elevation is a lot easier to deal with.

It was a great week, especially when you get to spend some time with nice people.

Had a great time. It was nice to meet Gary and Sharie. Always nice to see Kevin and Laura. I was surprised when I looked up and saw Yellowstone John coming down the dock with Edna.

Thanks for posting the pictures Jody! Nice seeing everyone again. Hope more C-Brats will stop in at YSL for a visit. We will be here every weekend in August.

A gathering at YSL next year sounds great. The marina is typically open till the 2nd weekend in September. This year they close on Sept. 14th.

Love the photos Jody. These new technologies allow for such wonderful toys.

Mary and I would love to see a 2015 gathering at Yellowstone Lake. We've never been there and it's on our "to-do" list. A suggestion has been made of timing such a gathering in proximity to the Lake Powell gathering. Another thought might be to have a caravan type of gathering that would also, or in lieu of, include Flaming Gorge Reservoir. Has there ever been a gathering there? I suppose this would depend on the timing of Lake Powell and whether other gathering(s) could mesh with it.

Rob

El & Bill did just that, but included Jackson Lake too on their way from the 2008 Yellowstone Lake Gathering to Lake to Powell & they have a wonderful write up about it in Halcyon Days.

We are headed up there tomorrow or the next day to put the boat in for a month & will come & go from our home in Wyoming to the lake until its time to pull out for Lake Powell. It's hard to beat the monthly deal for docking at Bridge Bay Marina. It's approximately $350 & that includes 30 amp power. On a daily basis it's considerably higher at about $26 now.

That sounds like a fun month - I'm going to put that on my "ideas" list for next summer, thanks. Segue to Powell is handy, too.

Excellent idea Rob. Let's move this up a notch...no need to linger at the idea stage! I remember El & Bill and others did this kind of thing a while ago. I'm not familiar with the lakes to the north of Powell. Jay...Jody...what kind of time would be needed at each lake to do it justice? If we can back into what time we should land at Powell then we can set some dates. Folks could join the group for all or part as we move south. I'm in for all at this point...I'll be retired by that time next year!

Are they letting you keep Cutthroat trout at Yellowstone these days?? When we were in that region last, the authorities were delighted if you took lake trout out, but Yellowstone was catch & release only for Cutthroat.

Such a beautiful area!

I like the sound of that :D A "Chain O' Mountain Lakes cruise" - culminating in Powell - would be super. I have often read the older threads where it seemed like folks (especially Bill and El) would share an idea and get the ball rolling, and a cruise/get-together would then materialize. I'm not that sort of "starter magnet" personality, but I would like to join in :thup
