Ya know, I've seen Tom in heels and it wasn't pretty. Given the choice, I'd pay money for an air card and service rather than see Tom in heels again. Maybe it was the mini-skirt? Come to think of it, the heels wouldn't have been so bad had he shaved his legs... but, I digress.
It's gonna cost your around $60 per month to have decent wireless broadband, no matter who you deal with. Cable or satellite TV will be around the same with 100 channels (no premium) of which you will watch 6 or 8. They will all tell us what a good deal we're getting and why they are cheaper than the others. Lies. We have gone for months with no TV while out on our boat, but I NEED the internet access. Man does not live by sunsets alone.
The minimalists here (and I won't mention Bill and El by name) will tell us that less is more. Not less internet speed and service, though. This thread started as a discussion about the iPhone, but from my perspective, the handheld items are more fun than function... when I want to surf or really BE on the internet, it is easier with a laptop than a small phone. Connectivity comes with a price. At this point, I'm still willing to pay to participate.
Lots of these handheld devices have a great "cool factor", but when it comes down to it, I like having a real keyboard and a big screen.
Best wishes,
Jim B.
