Would like to experience a 22' C Dory Cruiser

Hello, my wife and I are both in the process of retiring. We love the idea of being able to have a boat we could use for fishing as well as doing some cruising trips in the Pacific Northwest. Not surprisingly, after some hours searching online, the Cruiser looks like a strong possibility.

We like the layout and design of the 22' Cruiser, will be going to the NMI shop for a tour very soon. Also looking at used boats online.

It has occurred to me that we are thinking about spending a wad of cash on a specific boat we have never set foot in (saw a 22' Angler up close and talked to the owner once!).

Is there anyone out there in the Vancouver, BC, Vancouver Island, NW Washington area that might be interested in giving a couple of newbies a ride for an hour or so, so we could at least experience what the 22 Cruiser is like in person? Obviously we would for fuel, food and any other expenses.

RJ, Welcome to C-BRATS and best to you in your search. I know there are boats around that are closer to you than mine, so maybe you will get some contact from them.

You are right, it is a "wad" but try looking at it as an investment in sanity. It's great therapy, on your schedule, and you can do couples, single hand, or take friends and you all benefit.

Stick around here and meet some great folks, learn everything you could ever want to know about C-Dory's and plenty about boating, seamanship and cruising (and fishing) too. You can check the "Brat Map" in the tool bar at the top on the home page. and see where there are close owners to you then PM them. you can click on the little red teardrop marker and get info about the boat and owner -depending on what they have entered into the map input screen. Most owners are pretty proud of their boats and glad to show them.

Should you not get any other offers, I launch out of Port Townsend this late in the season, and would be glad to meet you there some time if that would work. (PM here is a good way to contact me.) I have a 22 Cruiser, and have spent as much as 10 weeks on the boat at one time up at the N end of Vancouver Island. Some folks might say not to ride with me because if you do you will be convinced that you are looking for a C-Dory with twin outboards. (Long story there 8) But that's not true, you can decide on that on your own.

Best,

Harvey

Welcome aboard. I have a better idea, rather than looking locally--when it gets cold up there, hop in an airplane, and fly down to Florida--happy to give you a ride/tour/accommodations any time we are home....

C Dory is money well spent. Hold their value well, solid boats.

Welcome aboard. If you can get to Nanaimo, Kerri On and myself would be happy to take you to sea. Kerri On is arranged as a long distance cruiser/live aboard but is a stock 2011 CD22. Camperback, fridge freezer etc
Currently living aboard in Nanaimo can be underway in 4 minutes. Come over for a ride.
Read thru Halcyon days on the home page lower right for 10 years or so of.El and Bill Fiero's adventures. I bought my first CD19 based on their stories.

'Mon down to Cornet Bay, just inside Deception Pass on the north end of Whidbey Island. Plan C is still in the water until mid November and there's some gorgeous cruising near by.

We own a 23 Cape Cruiser (think 23 Venture) and live in Tsawwassen. It's a little different than the 22 Cruiser, but would be glad to show it to you and talk C-Dory's. We can take it for a spin if you like......
