Window Air Conditioner questions

Yoga Mats..... Not to really use...but to cut up and put under the AC to keep from scratching....

Joan gave me a garden kneeling pad to put under the back end of the a/c. It's made of closed cell foam, small enough to be easy to store, and cushions the a/c so there's no buzz or rattle. A piece of a foam swim noodle goes on the bottom of the window. Now, I'm just looking for the best EASY way to close up the sides and top. A rolled up beach towel completes the Sanford & Son look, wrapped around the top and sides. I'm thinking I may cut a piece of silver insulating foil to fit and call it done.

It poured down rain for a few minutes around 4:00 this morning - the first real precip we've seen since we got back. Between the open center window and the eyebrow, the towel stayed dry. No wind, through. On the really bright side, right after the rain, I saw 79º on the outside thermometer - the first time below 80º in weeks.

Best wishes,
Jim

While packing stuff, Joan came across a space blanket from my old flight ditch kit. She said, "How 'bout this for closing up the window?" Good choice - doesn't weight anything, water won't penetrate it, and it folds up to next to nothing. Worked fine last night.

Jim,
My 5000 BTU window unit lives under the "V" bunk cut out, with some padding on each side, and pad eyes and a line to hold it in place. When in use, there is a piece of plywood it sits on (epoxy coated and painted), which leans down, and there is a closed cell foam pad under this plywood. Any condensate runs out--and to the side of the deck--no leaks below deck. I use the pad to slide the plywood and AC unit out the window.

Generator in a "Smart Bin" from Wal mart--much thicker plastic and re-inforced--also for lines, hoses, power cords, propane bottles etc--and lockable. It lives in the cockpit--and it a bit bigger than the action packer (I do use an action packer on the Tom Cat). The generator fits on the aft cooler rack.

Photos in my album. Limited wi fi access currently--sorry.
