Which C-Dory do you want to see?

What is everyone's recommendation for the most sought after C-Dory. It seems to be the 22' Cruiser as most popular. When looking at new C-Dory's what does everyone think is the best value and most sought after?

22 cruiser of course but I think a 22 angler with hard bulkhead, dinette, Wallace heater/stove could also have great local appeal with the fisher folk who also want to overnight.

Being that the 22' cruiser outsells all other models I would think that's the one you should display. I have had ours since new in 2001, it never fails to generate interest whether on the water or at the dock.

The 22, because it is the smallest boat which can be a full time cruiser in comfort. It is a boat which a couple can spend a month or more in comfort on. It is lighter and easier to trailer than the 25.

I agree, the 22. To my eye it's also the best looking of the lot. Not by a lot but the proportions and sheer are just about perfect! Hope I don't start anything - just my opinion folks!!!!

It depends on how much space you need (passengers, equipment, stuff*),
how far you intend to travel on the water** and how you value "the ride"***.

* "Sometimes, less is more."
** Do you really need to see all the Cats in Zanzibar?
*** "Length is ride."

Aye.

My vote is the Tomcat 255. Back around 2004 I think it was, the SBS had the 22' the 25' and a 255 tomcat on display. This was before I new much about C-dory but admired them on the water from our old glasply. I walked all over these boats then and was so impressed with the 255 at that time, it really left an impression with me.

So I know the 22 is the most popular, but most boaters in this area are very familiar with it since there is a lot of them on the water. The Tomcat is seen less often and is also most impressive. With the cost of all the comparable fiberglass boats, the Tomcat has the ability to generate the most drool in that diverse crowd of boaters. Just my 2 cents!

My thoughts:

The larger models are more impressive if you want a lot of "Wow"s!

But if you (the dealer) want to close a lot more contracts, show and sell the more affordable 22. (And have good financing available!)

Those folks that can afford the bigger models are not first time buyers, and they will for the most part already have done some research and be willing to shop around for a 25, 26, or 255 at a dealership, at the factory, or privately.

In my estimation, they're less likely to sit down and sign a purchase contract on impulse at a Boat Show!

However, the Ranger Tug Factory Boys prove the above wrong every January!

Maybe the difference (if it exists), is best explained by the C-Dory customers being a group generally looking for value, utility, and cost effectiveness,
vs. the Ranger Tug buyers being more characterized as well to do retirees looking for a new upscale boat (kind of a crowning toy present to themselves) in which to indulge.

Worth thinking about. I'm sure Jeff and Andrew and the rest at Ranger Tugs have done so, and very effectively, too!

YMMV!
