Welcome to the C-Brats!

Welcome aboard. I spend much of my life in Long Beach--living in Huntington Harbor and Westminister at various times. You will find several of us also have Hobie Mirage products and use them with our C Dories. I also used to dive, mostly at Catalina--when you could pick up abalone at low tide off the rocks...Things change!

I have looked for about six years for a C-Dory to fit my needs and wants. I found this one mid June in Florida. I drove down, made a deal and brought it home to South Carolina Upstate on the 15th of June. I have had her in the water twice so far. Wow what fun I am having. :D
Can't wait to meet some of you on the water.
Possible chance of us attending the NC gathering in Whittaker Point in late Sept.

Welcome aboard, Steve. Lots of fun to be had with your new boat. A C-Brat gathering will give you the opportunity to see how others have personalized their boats and how they use 'em.

This is a great forum to learn and exchange ideas.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Welcome Steve! By chance...have you had it on Jocassee yet? I hope to go for those lake trout up there for the first time very soon, I'm just not set up for trolling.

Welcome Steve, glad to hear you're out having fun. My wife and I got our 19 last fall and are really having a lot of fun with it. The boat inspires confidence every time we go out. Congratulations, George

Welcome aboard
I am happy to see from your posting that you made it back from Reno and all went well.
It is great to have another C-Dory owner in the Edmonton area. I look forward to meeting you again and check your new treasure.

:thup :D

Good Morning Edwin;
Sue and I have you and Colette to thank for the good information you folks provide us on how to get our C-Dory into Canada. As you indicated the C. Tire inspection is a bit of a joke. I got the trailer inspected and licensed yesterday and hope to license the boat today. Hope all is well with you and Colette and that you'll find time to visit soon.
Thanks again.
Len

Hi All,

What a great site this is! We've been exploring this site over the last year or so while fantasizing about our very own C-Dory.

If all goes well we will pick up our very own 2008 25' Cruiser this Saturday. :D

We're looking forward to many excellent years scuba and free diving on the Dory as well as learning from all of you seasoned Dory owners.

Cheers

Jim & Dara

Thanks for the welcome Roger.

The electronic installation began yesterday so Saturday is looking good.

I noticed in the pics of the SeaDNA (very nice boat) a sling launch is that correct? One of our favorite areas to dive here requires a sling to launch from the pier.

Thanks again for the welcome.

Yes, the first launch was done by sling at Des Moines Marina near Tacoma. I've used a sling launch many times as the closest launch to me (Edmonds) is a sling. If you have a bunk trailer, you will likely need cut-outs in the bunk to get the sling strap in easily. The launch in Edmonds, charges extra for bunk trailers w/o cutouts as they have to do some finagling to get the stern up and the strap under on those trailers.

To list a boat for sale...go to Forums and scroll down to Boats for Sale. There are explicit instructions on the format and best advice to do the listing. Once you submit you can not change the listing, but can add additional notes.

Hope that helps

Hello C-dory owners. I just discovered this site. You folks love your boats as much as I love mine (25 Seacraft Seafari).

I (and wife) are looking for cruisers to accompany in the Bahamas, SW Florida and maybe other Florida destinations. We bring wide experience cruising those areas and our outlook comes pretty close to yours. If its the Bahamas, ability to freedive would be a major plus. We are still working, so our trips are limited to 1-2 weeks.

Any interest?

Six months after we started looking for our first boat (with a lot of time spent reading here, going to a CBGT, etc.) I was getting frustrated that the really well priced boats were all in Alaska, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Florida, Texas, etc. Distant boats turned out to be very expensive to transport, and out of my comfort zone risk wise. Then, a week and a half ago, a 2006 22' Cruiser appeared on Seattle Craigslist, for a very good price. We jumped on it, not even having a tow vehicle at the time. It was moored to a floating home for 2 years (fresh water), and the previous owner used it in eastern Washington. It was kind of a big process, even with it being a local deal, but it's done now, and we're just waiting for the title.

She used to be named "Molly B" (it can still be read in the right lighting). We're in the process of coming up with a name. Other things in the works are: getting a truck, kicker, cover, learning the old systems ('06 vintage radar and GPS), learning to back up a trailer better, etc.

By the way, if you look in my gallery, you'll see an interesting picture of how the boat was loaded onto the trailer after we bought it. The previous owner had both a 16 and 22 foot C-Dorys, and the winch was set up for the smaller one. We towed it away thinking it didn't look right, and it wasn't until we got home we noticed that the coupler was pulling up on the ball. Good thing we didn't pop it open! Since it's on bunks, we couldn't move the winch and pull it forward without taking it back to a ramp, and it was a little crazy the day before Seafair. So we took it to Edmonds marina and had them lift it off the trailer with straps so we could adjust the trailer. It was only $24 to do it, and a lot less stressful than taking it back to a crowded ramp. That's probably the least I'll ever spend on something boat related!

So that's it for now. Looking forward to cruising around the Sound soon!

For a little history, Molly B has only appeared by name on this site once, posted in the C-Dory sightings forum.

My husband and I recently acquired our CD22 Cruiser so I thought I would join the conversation here! We are moored in Everett so if you see the Northwest Thyme running around on the water in the Edmonds area feel free to say hello! We plan to make trips up to the Bellingham area as well!

Can't wait to get to know out boat better in the nicer weather and to turn it into a second "home" for ourselves.

April & Dan

Welcome April and Dan. Hope you really enjoy your boat and the great cruising area we inhabit. There will be a C-Brat gathering at Friday Harbor May 19-21 and you are certainly welcome to attend. That is really the best way to get acquainted, see other boats and how their owners have modified them. We have a good time too. There are several other gatherings over the summer and a new one down at Fisherman's Terminal in Seattle in early April. Check the Event signup list at the top of the page. The people here are very welcoming so don't hesitate to ask about the boat or look for cruising advice.
