We are not in California for part of the year and when I return to my C-Dory I find mildew which takes me one day to clean out.
In the past I had a Catalina 36 and that boat had plenty of vents, dorades and solar vents and I did not have such a problem. The C-Dory now is in the Catalina old berth.
Has anyone installed any solar vents in their C-Dory and if so in which locations. I do not have any evidence of water leaking but Santa Barbara gets cold and rainy in the winter months and condensation builds up in the inner pane of the windshield.

I used 3 of those air dryers, 2 heated and 1 just has the fan. I block up the V-birth pads so they get air under them. For serious cold, I add a small oil bath radiator type heater. Keeps it clean and dry. Also, the boat is stored in a barn, under a roof, and on a trailer, so not on the water, or in the elements.

I also use those air dryer, one is on full time while the boat is in storage, and have a second one that I use as needed, mostly for when the temperature drop significantly. Like Harvey, my boat is on a trailer at home while not in use so I think it makes a big difference from your situation. I keep my previous sailboat at the marina and had some moisture issues, hading a couple of those solar vent made a huge difference, I think that is what you should be considering for your situation.

Hi Ed. We installed a solar vent in the hatch over the V-berth. Also put Hypervent under the V-berth cushions to allow air flow under the cushions. Our boat lived in the water at our dock when we were home. When in storage, we used one of those devices that Phil showed.

When my boat is stored for the winter all the cushions (except the helm seat) get removed and are stored indoors. I don't find mildew inside the boat, but there is usually some on the outside under the cover where there is an air gap. The mildrew is small dark dots. A good wash takes care of it.

Solar vent in forehatch on several of our boats. Solar vent aft over the aft port dinette seat or small closet. Solar vent over head. Solar vents have the rechargable batteries, so you get circulation at night. I have aso run dehunidifiers, drain into sink. The best of theses is a marine unit which is no longer available called "Mighty Dri"--sometimes they are available in used consignment shops or E bay. They are al SS and Brass or Bronze. Very similar are the "crawl Space dehumidifer --which run from $300 to #500. These type are better than the "home" dehumidifier.
