Wallas Smoking...help!

Not sure what resale would be but I would think you could do it given the model and low hours.
If you do sell you have a good idea whats available for replacement when the time comes.
If mine doesn't give reliable service with scheduled maintenance I'm done. I'm comfortable with both propane and diesel but it is difficult for me to decide given the pros and cons of each. I hope I don't have to decide for years.

Got the Wallas reinstalled and ran it for about 6 hours today. Smoky for the first few minutes and one unexplained shutdown (random shutdown cycle, no unusual smoke or anything like that) but it definitely was heating and cooking just fine.
Here's the wind deflector that Scan Marine had me install. No idea if it will work yet. More photos in my album.

So if Scan Marine has been around here, sounds like they are still pretty much looking for $$$. yes $235 ios better than $700, but if we have one version of Wallas that is more trouble that the others maybe there should be some explicit directions, maintainance or otherwise, that could help decrease the failure to burn problem.
I little helpful input from them might go a long way towards some product loyalty. So far, I have not had any trouble, but like Sam said, now I can be appropriately worried.

Thanks for the update! I seem to remember now that Pat got it back from Scan Marine after they repaired it, but had already decided to go the Espar route.
I looked through all of Pat's postings for the last 4-5 months yesterday, and still couldn't find the specific post that would answer that question! Must be buried in some semi-related thread somewhere.
I will have to apologize to all the C-Brats for my somewhat twisted sense of humor on some of these topics. Some have been a long road, frequently revisited over the years, and in need of some comic relief when passing by familiar waypoints.
Still and all, each passage can reveal new perspectives. It's just too bad we seem to have to start from scratch each time because it is so hard to find all the relevant former posts and information recorded therein.

Agreed. Perhaps a "sticky" is in order. I looked thru myriad threads re: Webastos, Epsars, how to , where to...lots of good info, but spread out over yrs. & pages.
Our Wallas still works, but we don't have nearly the hours of use mentioned by some. I'm going w/ it for now and using Kleen Heat religiously. We'll see. It's not perfect, but it's functional. I'll revisit a replacement should we need one. I've used alcohol stoves before and love their simplicity.

I did the same as Pat. Pulled the Wallas and re did the counter. Installed a Webasto under and behind the sink in completely unused space and ran a duct up into the V berth as well as one at foot level in the cabin. Best think I ever did, other than the other things.

No problems with the Wallis so far but we probably haven't put the hours on it you west coast boaters do. Our instructions recommended "Ace hardware " mineral spirits for fuel. Should we consider switching to diesel? We use a propane stove top for most cooking. Stuff works great until it doesn't.
Something else on the care and operation of our Wallas?

( I normally run it at Max for at least 5 minutes before switching it off.)
DON'T remove the power till after the red lite goes off.
I got that from one of the great notes and documentation passed here and have followed it faithfully, even in the summer.
Now that I have noted this, I may have opened the dyke. Since 2005... NO problems with our 95D.
I did buy a spare fuel tank and cycle between the 2 tanks to make sure I have a clean tank with clean K1 fuel for each season.

As long as we are talking Wallas stoves here's a question for some of you. How long typically does it take to start your stove, with the red light on and burner going. I have a Wallas 125 DU on our 2001 C-dory. It typically takes about 1 and 1/2 minutes if it is above 45 degrees or warmer outside and about 3 minutes if it is close to freezing. I have never paid a lot of attention to the time until I read the manual again and these times seem to be in the ball park. Thanks in advance for any responses.
I have never timed mine, but it seems like it is in that range. (Mine is a 95D). Like you, I ALWAYS start in high for 5-10 min then adjust, and turn it up on high for at least 5 minutes before shutting down. And ALWAYS either have the OB's running the full time or off the full time. So far, no problems.
If on shore power, I use an electric heater.

Glad you got the stove "fixed" and running. I wonder how many have had problems, and of course posted on the forum--vs those like us, who have never had a bit of trouble on 3 different boats over a period of about 8 years? .
As others we always made sure that the voltage was 12.6 or above when we started the stove--the stove was on "high" for 5 minutes when started, and for 5 minutes before shut down. We used Kleen Heat, Kerosene, or liquid candles as fuel.
