WAAS changes

I just downloaded and installed. Further comments are more appropriate to Batty's topic on Secrets of Raymarine so have posted there.

Well, we had such an awful time the last time we did a firmware upgrade on our C80 that I am very disinclined to attempt it again. It locked up and we had to disconnect the power to get it to reset...anyway, it seems to be working fine with or without the additional satellites, so somebody explain why I should go through this nightmare again...

check on "Secrets of Raymarine" where I posted Raymarine's instructions on how to do the WAAS update. I saved their download onto a scandisk I use for Raymarine updates and then followed their instructions on how to update. Its actually pretty straightforward. One thing however, when you save their file to disk, it will be a Zip file. You must extract that and copy the two files included in the 4.26 folder on to the scandisk separately else the C-80/E-80, etc. won't recognize it. Then follow Grumpy's helpful advice posted on this thread.

Gosh Pat, you can do it! The more you do it, the better you'll get at it. I'm sure the folks on this site can walk you through it!! :D

Too damn complicated! Let's see, Raymarine screws up its programming, then makes US jump through these ridiculous hoops to fix THEIR mistake? The fix should be freely downloadable! I forgot my username and password for the Raymarine site, OK, got it by email. This is not enough - now to download the fix for their goof, you have to join the "VIP Insider" club. To do this, you have to know both the date you purchased your product and its serial number. I don't have the receipt at hand, and as far as I can tell, getting the serial number will require me to take the unit our of the mount...Some day, SOME manufacturer is going to figure out that unit with a great intuitive UI that uses free NOAA charts on an SD chip, coupled with great customer service, can own this market lock, stock and barrel. Oldgrowth Dave, here is your next career opportunity!

Yep - there is a download package for Macs - whatever those things are. You then will need a compact flash card & read/write capability from the Mac - you'll have to copy the two files from the Mac onto the card to transfer the program from the Mac to the E-80.

Or, when I get my card back from David, I can copy the E series upgrades to it and send it to you. It only takes 5 minutes to install.

Thanks, Mac. Sheesh, you'd think a guy with that name would have some idea what a Mac is all about. :wink When I got the e-mail from Raymarine about the WAAS upgrade, we were on the road, so I didn't take the time to check out the specifics... then saw this thread. I'll get on it as soon as we are done getting settled back in. Thanks for the offer.

Best wishes,
Jim

Or how about just sending the two files as an email attachment, I can then get them to my CF card?
