Transducer location?

Hello - I have the Airmar P58 transducer and ready to install on my 19' Angler. Have read alot and talked to some and thought you all would know best so question is. Where is the best location and is it an easy install. Any do' and dont's before I try or would it be wise to have someone install it for me. My electronics are Raymarine which I installed this past weekend (C97 and RAY 55). There is a guy (Fred Fritz) a couple hours away from me and from what I am told is the Raymarine guru in this area. Anyhow, any help/info is appreciated.

Here's a good tutorial that Thataway Bob posted on installing a transducer awhile ago. As to placement, you want it to be in an area with minimal turbulence and lined up roughly with the bottom of the hull.
 
Make sure the piece of starboard you use is large enough to allow you to move the transducer around a bit. Also, while Bob uses thickened epoxy that he mixes up himself, you can buy some thickened epoxy that's like a putty. It's a bit easier to use.
 
On our recent trip, with the transducer in the location in the photos, we were able to hold bottom at 600 plus feet at full speed. You want it to the right of the prop, and out of turbulence from any other thru hulls etc. Just at the bottom of the boat. I used a straight edge to align it, and it did very well.
