There's a really nice article about the C-Dory TomCat 255 and C-Dory in general in the December issue of "Soundings" magazine ("The Upside to Downsizing"). It also accurately describes the usual pleasant experience in dealing with Marc and the Wefing's folks. A good read.

Seems to be the URL which works for me on the Mac. Not sure why the above link does not work.

This is by George Sass, and is as good "advertising" for a Tom Cat (C Dory brand as it gets!

Thanks to George--and Marc at Wefings who I know is instrumental in getting the Sass family into a Tom Cat!

One final comment he made about being relaxed mirror our experience. We can run almost 200 miles to Apalachicola from upper Perdido bay, and be more relaxed than if I had driven the highway which parallels the waterway route.

Great article. Even though we have the earlier model tomcat, I find the article to be spot on. I can remember the first time out being amazed at the flat turns. In addition we bought our TC from Marc at Wefings and have to second the praise given.

Wow, after reading that article, someone ought to sell a lot of Tomcats. That was a boat that would not only float on water, but walk on water.

A truly romantic article. And we already knew C-Dories were great.

Coincidentally enough , I am in S.C. on my way to Georges place in Annapolis to pick up said Tomcat and deliver it to Islamorada,FL where it will be wintering [yes I like to drive] . George will be writing more about the Trailer-able Trawler lifestyle and is looking for C Brats and Tugnuts to meet up with and possibly include in his writings . I can tell you he is a wonderful guy [his wife Stacey is a pretty nice gal as well] . If you think you will be in the Keys area in the next 3 Mos. let me know and Ill put you in touch with George.
Boris , the Tomcat's performance would make it the Corvette of C Dorys...........

Disclaimer.... I didn't pay Alan to mention this article.Purely coincidence !

Nice.... I love to see people writing about enjoying time on a C-Dory.
You need to get this guy eating oysters and enjoying apalach Marc. :thup
Come to think about it, Cathy and I are long overdue for a trip down to see you, Anita and visit with Dr Bob & Marie.
We do have a new grandson taking some of our time now.

Hi Jeff, Glad to see the family growing, good looking boys. We have 4 grandkids now, they all are special. Hope to see you all before long. Jim & Sandy Jessup (Westfield NC)

Nice write up. We sold our Catalina 42, which was a great boat but slow, and we never sailed it. In the San Juans the wind seems to not be conducive to getting you where you want to go in a timely fashion, at least in the summer. Twin hondas now get us where we want to go in a quarter of the time. Best of all I can store the boat indoors in the winter, plus all the stuff in the article as well. A win all the way around.
Hope they sell a ton.

It's a real leap of faith when you go from a larger boat (or almost any sailboat) to a C-Dory. What most folks considering the move want to know: can you really be comfortable in there?

A test ride, or time spent on a boat at a boat show, doesn't really tell you what it's like to spend a week, or a month, on a 25' boat. And, frankly, not everyone could do it. The gist of this article is the discovery for the Sasses that they can have big fun on a small boat.

The way they plan to use this boat, with someone else doing the trailering, is another interesting perspective - I enjoyed the article. Many of us, though, consider the land traveling with these boats part of adventure. Seems to me that they bought the right boat for the way they intend to use it! :thup

Another fine (and very public) example of how versatile the C-Dorys are. Many of us consider the C-Dory to be "a step up"... I think of ours as our "just right" boat.

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Bring that little guy down Jeff ! I have a 19 Mo. grand son in Huntsville that needs some granddad water time here as well .

BTW I will be in Islamorada,FL to meet George this afternoon with "Viewfinder" in tow . We will launch her and put her in her winter home .

Nice article, and great story. Sure would be nice to spend some time in the warm weather and water. Great advertising for the C-Dory travel style.
