Sounds like excellent odds in your favor from the reviews of the Cleveland Clinic. Let us know how things are going. After you get things more settled I think a lot of us would like to know what made you aware of the problem orginally as we all get older.

As a two time "Cabbage" (Bypass) survivor, I was lucky. Especially if you consider they were both done at Balboa Naval Hospital here in San Diego 19 years apart. I wish you the same luck I had, Bob. My thoracic surgeon was President Clinton's choice at the time and since the President never travels abroad without a full medical team, my surgery was delayed by his trip to Italy but even that proved to be fortuitous.

Good luck. The procedures are light years away from what was done in 1975. You're more at risk in SICU and recovery than the actual surgery as you well know. Attention to detail isn't the value it was 30 years ago.

Take the damn boat to Cleveland and tour the Great Lakes while you're there. Great cruising ground and you can include the Eire Canal. That'll help your recovery by giving you some great times.

Or turn the trailer upside down and see if'n it'll float.

Over the last three days we passed over some really great cruising areas--the Tennessee, Ohio, Cumberland and Kentucky Rivers. Unfortunately we didn't have the C Dory in tow.

I am sitting in the lobby of the Cleveland Clinic guest house and connected on the lap top--the RV about 150 feet away in the parking lot with hookups. Heck --no direct internet or cable TV--but we will have to do with what they have!

I'll have to say I am mighty impressed with the organization and what I have seen so far on our "tour" and registration. Apparently they see 7500 patients a day at this facility...plus construction is nearly doubling the bed capacity--yet everything flows smoothly.

Some of our friends are comming up early next week and my daughter flies in Tues AM. I have tests over the next few days--and surgery is scheduled for Wednessday the 27th.

I suspect I'll not be able to use the computer for several weeks after surgery--plus we have the drive home, when released. So I'll say "HI" to everyone at this point--and maybe check the email/list before Wed am.

Good luck Bob with your surgery, looking forward to your posts when you come home. BTW, we can't be responsible for "fiberglass gone wrong" on our boats without your guidance for the next few weeks... :wink:
