Snowy hell....

We are in the midst of a blizzard here from NYC to Boston. We already have 10 inches on the ground and another 8-10 coming.

I can't wait til spring.....I'm so jealous of all you warm weather Brats! I'm seriously considering moving to a warmer climate when I retire (I'm 35 years old now). Especially since I'm pretty sure that boating will be a lifelong hobby of mine.

I'm fed up with this weather....... At least my 25 is safe and secure. She's indoors at a warehouse waiting for me. :)

Cold day in Pensacola. We only got up to 68* But still nice enough to get out in the boat if one wanted...We all have choices in life. One of mine was to never live where I had to own a show shovel..

No snow here in Lakewood, Colorado now and 65 degrees. Our lakes here along the Front Range are ice free. Plenty of new storms on the Rockies above us so good skiing up there.
So, a beautiful area, but weather is variable here along the front range due to chinook winds and --- no salt water cruising.🙅🏻‍♂️

To each his own. Me? I love snow. I'm sad to see what we had on the ground here evaporate and melt under the onslaught of the latest Pineapple Express rainstorm. I'll be heading to Paradise (Mt. Rainier) soon, where there is 127 inches on the ground.

And nothing beats winter boating for sheer beauty. Here's what Lake Chelan looks like from the water in the winter:

Beautiful pics! Thanks! Makes me wish I could have bought Seawolf Joe's boat - sitting on that lake in a nice pilothouse boat with the Dickinson propane fireplace casting a cheery glow,,,,,,,, 8)

I enjoy looking at the pretty, snowy winter images... just don't want to be in it again. We spent a lot of years in the frozen northland, so I am intimately familiar with cold and snow.

The desert southwest is a bit more variable than our winters in the Tropical Tip... but, this is where our kid lives, so this is where we are right now. It was close to 80 degrees here today; clear sky, lots of sunshine. I'll take that over the snow.

Those migratory birds are on to something. 8)

Well, to be fair about it, I live in a place where it's pretty easy to get to the snow I have come to love without having to deal with snow I could learn to hate. I don't mind shoveling snow a couple times a year. I have relatives in Alaska who may have to shovel a couple times a day for days on end. I think that might get old pretty fast. And the coldest it's ever been in Olympia, where I live, is a few degrees below zero, and most winters we never get down to single digits. With the rare exception of a few shallow bays, Puget Sound never freezes. Year round boating is a reality here, and mid winter is often the very best time to be out on the water.

On the other hand, if I want snow, it's never more than a couple hours away year round. I've spent a night in a tent on the Fourth of July when it was 14 degrees in the tent and there was 8 inches of new snow on the ground in the morning. But I only experience that kind of thing because I want to. You folks in the frozen parts of the world have my sympathy.

Stay as warm as you can, and stay safe.

Bill

Sequim had 3 inches of snow on Monday, more rain and snow. Today in Port Townsend it was sunny and warm, 50ish. From snow to flooding in many area rivers on the peninsula. I think we made it half way to 80 today, (half way from Zero that is

Bill, I love the pix. Chelan is one of my favorite lakes in the world.

I just spent a week on the Lacassine, Calcasieu, and Mermantau Rivers in South Louisiana. Highs in the low 80s, lows in the low 60s. Trees are starting to turn green. Great time here as hunting season is over and fishing has not begun. I saw maybe 5 sport boats all week. We will, of course get another freeze before summer, but for now, great time.

Beautiful pics. Thanks for sharing.

It was overcast in L.A. this morning. We went down to the marina to empty our dehumidifiers. We're expecting close to a half inch of rain with the latest storm. Oh, the humanity! It's supposed to be clear and calm by Monday, so February won't be a total waste. Maybe we'll stop and watch the whales go by on our way to the dive sites. Life is rough.

Wherever you are, you can't realistically expect it to be "nice" all the time.

Even if you got what you wanted and it was nice all the time, you'd grow to dislike
that in time.

Living in NW Michigan, I love the changes in the four seasons despite recent
weather changes seemingly becoming just two seasons: "winter and winter'll be
right back.

Aye.

I found myself with depression living in the northwest most of the year. A lot of people really love that climate, but I had some form of seasonal effective disorder. I lived for those few months of summer, and would justify my existence there, saying things like, "year round air conditioning" and reminding myself how beautiful it is from July - September.

I finally decided I couldn't live for 3 months of the year, and miserable the rest.

Moving somewhere more suited to me was the best decision I ever made. Its 76 today and beautiful today. We were relaxing on the beach in 80 degree weather last weekend. I'm thinking of taking the boat out for black sea bass and red drum after work. Maybe I will, or Ill just wait until the weekend because the weather will be good then too. It almost always is.

Glad there's a place for everyone that makes them happy. I'll never move anywhere I have to have a heavy coat or snow chains again. The warm weather makes me happy, and Im more productive and more pleasant to be around when Im happy!
