Seasport rumor

why would anyone care what day you buy a car? I mean really?? your joking right?? I have never heard of such a thing.

No joke -- this is the LAW in Utah, not just industry practice.

I remember blue laws on the east coast when i was a kid but, i thought unconstitutional silly laws had gone away over the years. I mean does anyone really care what I do on Sunday while you are at church??? I don't know whether to be appalled or laugh.

Used to be in Washington (pre-1970 or so), you could not buy alcohol on Sunday, even beer and wine in grocery stores, IIRC, and you could not buy meat from the meat department in stores on Sunday, either.

As a recent arrival from "open season" California, I was dumbstruck at how backward WA was then.

Mark, that looks like Deception Pass State Park.....am I correct?

 Excellent observation! Yes, it is....

I'm impressed; to me it's any campground w/ lots of trees.

Carol and I camped there many times. In the afternoon, I'd tow a 16' travel trailer up there and set up camp. When she got off work at midnight at Skagit Valley Hospital, she'd drive to the campsite and we'd start a short stretch of days' off together there.
One evening while "cruising" on Cranberry Lake in the canoe, I gave her an engagement ring and asked her if she'd marry me.... :love .

( I'd say that Deception Pass State Park ain't just "any campground w/lots of trees" to us.... :wink .)

In Pensacola (and most of the South) it may not be a law that the car and boat dealerships are not open on Sunday, but they are not. Many of the smaller stores are also closed, leaving business to the Walmart and Home Depot's of the World.

This site never fails to amaze me. Just when I was thinking on getting something a little more "dog friendly" and purchase something other than my little VW beattle for properly hauling a dog...(don’t have the dog yet) my friends on here start talking about just that. Amazing. Interesting. Have never been in a Honda Element.

DD: I hope tomorrow is a better day for you man. I thought that was what we were doing… just talking about ways for today’s owners of the C-Dory boat's factory to handle business and some of the thoughts and ideas that effect/affect (sorry...English teacher is asleep in the house) us. I actually thought they were doing pretty good with less than a 35 hour response from when C-Dawg opened up the topic. I really like people answering phones, not machines.

Not sure how to do the insert quoted items yet, so, to be sure I do not miss any of the points you tossed out, I will put your comments in red and leave my remarks in what ever color prints out. I care about you man and don't want to miss anything.

Your idea of jumping in a car and driving 2 or 3000 miles just to say hi sounds like a good plan, I'm just not sure for who.

Well, actually, I flew out and did take care of more than one thing. Your friend Denton was part of that trip.

Unless you were going out there anyway to check on another floating pile of money you are trying to get rid of.
Saw a lot of things floating out there in the water, but, unfortunately, a pile of money was not one of them. We even tried pulling up some baskets/pots to look…and, all we got were a bunch of crabs and we had to cook them later in the day.

It's funny to me and others as you seem to try a peddle Rosbough's boats on this site yet are suggesting for me to back away from the keyboard. You have the perfect right to advertise and make what ever comments you like but so do others.

Interesting DD..your response tends to make me think you found something not funny...but, I have misunderstood folks before. OK, said it before, stand on your own and speak for yourself…and allow others to speak for themselves. I am doing just about all I can to not peddle Rosborough’s boats on the site, to the extent I do not. I own two boats now, both happen to be Rosborough boats and I want to sell one of them at some point. Who knows what I will buy then. Folks talk about selling some other boat before getting a C-Dory all the time on here, but, you have only been a member for just about 2.5 years rather than a good bit over 6 years….and you may not even know the history of how I came about buying my first boat, made by the Rosborough family, rather than the 3 other boats, made by who ever was making C-Dory boats when I boat the 3 C-Dory boats. Take a look see…many of us have more than one boat. Read up on it. Now, another couple of folks complained about me advertising a boat that was not a C-Dory on here, and yes, it happened to be a Rosborough….so, I did my part, and stopped paying for advertisements. You may not have even noticed that for going on two months now, I have no paid ads about my Rosborough boats. You may find it interesting that other folks buy, rent or sell something other than a C-Dory as all kind of links are on our C-Brat site, and advertisements too!! It was really just my way of thanking Bill and Mike for making this site possible as there are/were much more trackable, hands on known good means of advertising than on the C-Brat site header boards, but, it was simply worth it to toss Bill and Mike some help as I could. Too many complained...so I stopped that. I can thank them in my own way that is not so site contraversial...and do that when I choose to either drive out or fly out and party with them a bit…even if we do not get around to making a boat trip looking for that illusive floating pile of money. So, I am not advertising for the Rosborough factory, who continued to sell factory direct. Rosborough boats are very fine, very well built boats and as an individual, I own two of them and really only need to keep one, particuarly with that pile of floating money not in one of my boats. I have not owned many types of boats..and until I sell one of my two current hulls (sorry...neither of them happen to be a C-Dory and when I bought the boat...you were not part of my purchase needs).... I will not be able to buy another one. Man does not live by one brand of boats...or even one type of boat.

I want the new ownership to survive as much as anyone else.

Wonderful: See…we agree. That is why I stay in contact with them…directly rather than expecting them to respond in less than 24 hours to some comment on a web site, and do not joke about emblems on seats which could be a big deal to someone. You never know what flips folks switch now days. That has not bothered me, but, those “business” phones with no people and follow the bouncing ball select a number or 6 before you talk to someone in English do.

My posts dealt with them (S.S.) keeping the people who care about them informed.

My post dealt with them keeping the nice lady answering the phone rather than having to talk to or listen to a machine telling me what buttons to push… That to me is more important than the FACTORY … responding 3 times in two days on matters. I had rather the folks focus on what it would take them to stay in business, no matter what it is called, and build nice, quality niche boats that we love.

I regularly promote dealers who have teated me fairly and provide ideas and my point of view.

Wonderful, so do I, but really, this link was started and talked about the factory…not dealers. I must say… I hope Matt is OK because upon review of this link, I see he has been on a lot too as a dealer. I do not think anyone on here likes bad to happen to anyone having anything to do with the marine industry, but, I will let folks speak for themselves.

You can check with the folks that run this site that I make my share annual contributions.

DD: I am proud of you. It is of no interest to me how much or how little you or any other C-Brat gives them. It is none of my business. I do like to support the folks that support me and/or my way of life and for sure the C-Brat site has been a very large part of my life for almost 6 years, and before that, the C-Dog site. I feel sure I will some way, some how, let the guys know I love what they do for us, and, face time is much more fun than just sending money. Money does not laugh until we have tears in our eyes like happens when Bill, Mike and myself have been together before. I think that time was over two years ago now...and that is too long.

Your post seemed to have a tone that I took as unwarranted.

Sorry about that Brother. I have a lot of hearing loss and there are many tones I miss. Crazy, my wife of over 30 years sometimes thinks it is just her tones I do not pick up on or hear. She will be relieved to realize she is not alone. Guess I missed this one too… I was just offering an option but it was ill received…by DD anyway. Bummer, I hate that and do not mean to fluff feathers. But then again, there are folks who just can not take it if someone may even lean towards offering a suggestion about slowing down a bit, or giving a small company a chance to get their legs under them, particularly during these days of merging a couple of companies. DD, You having been around for a couple of years, thru a couple of winters when some of us just lean a bit too long and too hard on the keyboard. We make the suggestions from time to time for and to each other. I thought you would have realized we often ask each other to take a breath….and remember we are on here to have fun and enjoy. I appreciate it when my friends tell me to slow down a bit…or, step away from the keyboard and go spend time on a boat. Guess you are not one of those folks….so please feel free to lean on that bad boy all ya want. My purpose was not to cause you any anger. My bad…or get over it….take your pick.

Now my friend Starcraftom: :beer Cheers Brother till next time!! Yes,… some of us attempt to not support places of business that are open on Sunday. To me, part of it is a religious gig…and another part is time management gig. Can we not buy everthing we need to exist in 6 other days of a week and have one day that everybody in the family can go out on the boat and not work… I think still today, Sunday is kinda sorta still looked at as “the day of rest” for a large part of Americans…and if as a total unit we supported each other on this, it would not be profitable for business to be open on Sunday.. Now, yes, I know we have folks that have to work, some jobs or their support is simply 24/7, but a large portion of them are not. I bet Bill could buy a car without having gone down there on a Sunday.

Bill, keep me posted on your car hunt man….I had been looking at a VW Jetta wagon diesel with some rubber stuff and those keep stuff from flying forward and hitting you in the head if you stop fast screens between the aft cargo area and the front seat passenger area…and like Charlie… I kinda liked it when the dog road around with me in the front seat from time to time on the farm. The dog was easy to get along with.

Good Health and Time with Family to All!

well that's nice if you want to take the day off but I sell houses on Sunday's because weekends are when people can get off work to look at houses. I 'm sure that goes for cars too. I can not imagine the gale of some one telling me what to do based on there religion. Sorry guys but just cant get over the utter stupidity of such laws in a free country. whats next ? forcing me to buy health care??

p.s. what the redneck said.

Realtors show homes on Sundays but cant sell them and Chik-fila stores are closed which I miss. Seems normal to me giving the fact that I work in 24/7 medical lab which was hospital based now private and off site.

Denny,
It's cool, the site accepts all wantabes, manufacturers, lurkers, has hads and all types of floating creations are accepted along with whoever owns them. Exceptionally long posts may better be handled by private messages.
D.D.

Not a law in Washington - but some areas have custom or tradition. For example, all the used car lots are closed on Sundays in Whatcom County including Bellingham. Which as you point out, makes zero sense for people who work Monday through Friday. Here is a hint for you - don't move to Lynden, WA!

Here where I live I can't buy a new car on Sunday...or Monday...Tuesday, or any other day of the week, the durn things cost to much

Hey Byrdguy, love ya man. I've had 6 C-Dory boats now, plus the Skagit Orca (built by C-Dory). Of all of 'em I'd like to have my TC24 back! Sure, some quality control issues, but one great compromise of all the things I like to do. Bet you wish you had never sold her too!

To keep the hijack simple -- my oncologist dropped his Sea Sport 27 on I-5 while doing 55... slid off the trailer. His rates went up quickly!!

Sure hope you get out this way soon... need a BBQ fix.

:love

Dusty

Yes Dusty, there have been many days I wish I still had FreeByrd. That was one fine boat. Maybe I should have just solicited the use/help of some of our C-Dory chop-shop folks who have cut their boats in half, ripped out the transoms, built new cabins and such... and just put a forward leaning helm cabin on that boat. I knew at the time I sold her that I could get the best part of my funds back on the boat, and the memories and friends that boat and my travels with, on, and around it are for sure priceless. Now that big ol stable cockpit got me addicted to large, clear, safe cockpits...and has stuck with me. Can not wait till one of the new Tugs with the larger cockpit hits the SE. Have chated with a "local" dealership and we plan to get together when it arrives. Been a while since he and I have broke some bread, enjoyed a boat and other things we enjoy together....laughing for sure is one of them. Not sure what year it was that I was sitting on the bottom half of the 1st Ranger Tug 25 at one of the Seattle Boat shows (and what fun we had that year!!!)...and talking with Livingston about how I would love to have one with a larger cockpit... and,...this year...well...I will get to see it Good Lord willing. Now a 580+ mile trip rather than a 380+ trip... so makes for a long day of travel each way.. and about a 1200 mile trip when all is done. Dr. does not like me driving that far alone anymore...so, I fly more now...and that is not easy when some places are not near the airports. I love roadtrips and have enjoyed many around these boats.

Oh how I would love to be there with you and Les in Oak Harbor with some our our original crews and friends. C-Dogs/C-Brats/Tug-Nuts and others and enjoy a good BBQ & Brew.
:hug :beer :male :female :beer :male :female :tea :dog :cat :clock :cocktail :smiled :thup :hug2

Sorry about your doctor's spill. Hope everyone was alright. Glad it did not wipe out a new Honda Element carrying a dog or two. ....it may have been Bill on the way up for another party. Gonna go take a look see at one of them.

But for sure I have to remember and reflect on the good times. Life is good.
