I hope this is nothing and he's out on an extended vacation somewhere having a great time but has anyone heard from Sea Wolf Joe? He hasn't posted since May 11th which is quite a long time for not hearing from him. Just curious.

You know old Joe don't talk much.

Remember last time he went missing? We were well into the three month mourning period when we found out he was on a cruise ship.

It seems to me he was fixing to get a knee or a hip or some joint replaced soon. Maybe that's where he's been.

Hope it is going good for him whatever it is.

Yep - in this thread, Joe indicated he was getting his hip replacement done on Monday, May 12th. Assuming everything went well, and depending on how much local "nursing help" he has, I assume he would be in an outpatient recovery facility for 1-2 weeks thereafter and then only moderately mobile for next 4-6 weeks.

Unless Joe types with his butt, getting his hip fixed is no excuse for not posting. We'll have to do a poll to see if we should boot him out of here.

Thanks for painting that mental image! :disgust

We have to keep him... kinda like one of those "funny" uncles. He's family.

Get better quick, Joe... you bionic guy.

Best wishes,

Last time this happened I admonished him to be sure to let us know in advance if he were planning on being dead for any extended period. And since we've heard nothing, I again suspect the rumors of his demise are exaggerated.

I had my left hip replaced in March 2004 and was on a plane 3 weeks later (against advice of the doc) because I had to interview for this job as head of Nevada Bankers Association. Doc took staples out on Tuesday and I was on the plane on Wednesday with walker (for use in shower), crutches and cane -- 2 hours practice with the cane before heading to the airport. Pain meds were great and I apparently wowed them at the interview because they called me back and the rest is history as they say.

My wife wouldn't let me email for a few days in the beginning as I was a little incoherent but the physical therapy started about 18 hours after surgery and I had to be able to "walk" around the hospital halls to the satisfaction of the staff to get out so it was 3 days then the PT person came to the house every other day for 3 weeks teaching me to climb stairs and such.

Amazing how you have to relearn stuff and I still have visions of being in a heap at the bottom of the stairs with my leg pointed the wrong direction because I didn't hold on to the handrail!

So, the foregoing is appropo of nothing, but hope Jim is doing well and is back with us soon.

Last e-mail I sent him his wife replied and said he was doing OK, but that was about a week or more ago. No one has answered the last one.
I thought for sure he would respond to that article I told him about concerning the new ceramic hip sockets....Seems they squeak and some guy was complaining it was ruining his sex life because it made his wife giggle. :crook :smiled Jack

Therein lies the reason we haven't "heard" from Joe.....he probably is getting too much nursing help and has more important things to do than "talk" to a bunch of old crusty brats on a computer.... :wink

If you are reading this Joe, I do sincerely wish you a speedy and successful recovering.....we do miss you!.....I also heard a rumor that Pat has caught up to and passed you with the number of posts.....I'm thinking that he is not brewing enough beer!

C-Brat Friends:

Thanks for all the well-wishes and prayers from all of you both here and in PMs (Private Messages) and emails!

As I indicated, I was to undergo total knee replacement on May 12, with therapy and recuperation to follow.

All went very well, and I'm home now walking with a walker and receiving home physical therapy daily.

It will be several more weeks until I can walk without the walker, and a few months after that before returning to 100% of normal mobility.

I want to especially thank those of you who gave me individual encouragement and support during this time, including Bill, Marty, Harvey, Jack, and others.

Sorry, but I didn't have internet access during the hospital stay.

Glad too be back!!!

Joe.

Joe.

Good that you didn't, Joe. Surfing under the influence can make for some great posts though....

Glad to see you're back to your old self. Have you put racing stripes and tennis balls on that walker yet? 8)
