Scale model made of any C-Dory's?

My 13 year old Ben is really into building models lately and I was just curious if any C-Brats are aware if there is anywhere to buy a scale model of a C-Dory? Preferablly a 22' Cruiser. Thanks

I had a friend (now deceased) who loved to make models, and he made a 10" pulling boat, and splashed a mold off of it, and made all of his friends fiberglass models. I have made a model of my father's boat at about age 13--still have it.

It would be fairly easy to build a hull, and then a mold--crank out some hulls--and decks. Sounds as if it could be a fun/money making project for someone's summer! I'll sign up for one.

There are professional model makers, but their prices are fairly high.

I have a 12" long model of my boat. It was a gift from my brother. He had it made where he lives on Fripp Isl, SC. It is on a plaque and hanging on my shed wall. It is a fairly accurate model and was done from a photo.

If I owned the company (and times were better), I'd commission a production run from a model company. I'd see to it my dealers got a distribution so a model would accompany the boat papers with each sale. I'd also sell some through my factory store - if I had a factory store.

Which makes me wonder why C-Dory doesn't contact one of these firms which set up factory stores. They also handle fulfillment and will even create a web page which the factory/mfg can link to from the factory site.

Just a thought :idea on a long February night!

When we bought our boat from the factory in 06, they did have some items with "C-Dory" on them... hats, vests, polo shirts. At that time, there was no mention of those items on the factory website. I would think any source of revenue in this economy would be welcome. The cost of commissioning a decent scale model may not be a good return on investment (although it would look good on the mantle... now, I just need to get a mantle  )

Best wishes,
Jim B.

We were there and Won One, very nice.
Doug on the Anna-B made a few and give them away at Dinner on night. We like ours very much, when they were giving them away my Wife wanted one bad it got down to the last on, I told here it is not over till it is over, her name was pulled out. We keep it on the Dash of Pandy Girl

Jim,

Thanks for replying to Soapy Joe. Our computer has been down and we couldn't do anything.
Yes, Doug made 12 of them last year for door prizes at the
Chesapeake Gathering.
They will be there for the 2009 Chesapeake Bay Gathering as center pieces and door prizes again. Anyone who shows up this year has a chance to win one.

Doug & Anne
