Saw A Yeti

I have one of the "Outer Banks" from boating world. It is very similar to the Yeti (not sure if made by the same folks or not). (2" foam, poly ethylene, dogs on the front, good hinges on the back of the lid (3" foam in the lid)--and gaskets. It definately keeps ice longer than the "Ultimate" or 5 day coolers by Igloo. But it also depends on the ambient temp, pre cooling and block ice vs crushed ice etc.

I also have an Outer Banks. It's an excellent cooler. I don't remember what we paid for it a couple of years ago, but it was a little pricier than most. With a good block of ice, careful management, and moderate temperatures (Inside Passage to Alaska in July), it kept things cold for a week. Easily the best cooler I've had.

I have a Yeti. They used to have a different name. Very simular to the Outer banks. I think I could get 5 days at Lake Powell pretty easily. I don't go there during the summer though. The only problem I see is there heavy. Best to load them up in the boat. When it is full I can barely lift it into the boat. I think the old name was Icey Tec or something like that.

I just watched the yeti cooler videos of not only a bear trying to open one but also a 500 lbs man try to destroy one. These look like great coolers but does anyone know what they cost?

SSI also make a great cooler . I have held ice for a week in Florida in July in my 200 Qt . Need a yeti or Sherpa porter to move when its full however .

I'm starting to think about how to set up my 22, and this thread has given me some ideas for coolers, but what are my options as far as chilling food and drinks and putting fish on ice? Do you carry 2 coolers? Do you not put the fish in coolers but instead use the lazarettes? Etc., etc. Any and all ideas welcomed!

Thanks,
Warren

It would all depend how long you are going to have the fish on the boat. If its just a day trip i like to use ice and thefish bags

There are many brand but you want one that sperates the ice and the fish. They are easy to use store and carry home.

No is you are staying on the boat for a while, we have a two week trip coming up, then I am for using the bag for the day and them process and vacum pack your fish daily then place into a separate fish only cooler that gets fresh ice every couple of days. This is why Iam looking into the yeti. I would like to have a tall square one that will not take up a lot of room. By cutting up and bagging the fish I don't have to store a long cooler in the boat.

I filled one just yesterday , a fish bag that is . I have been using them for years , they work well and fit across the transom of my C Dory 22 fish killin Center Console just perfect . And they dont hurt when you run into them .
Mine are Canyon Products .
