Saint Johns River Lodging

OK, so 22 C-Dory is not HoJo's dream boat

But we both do enjoy the actual cruise

Motels with moorage are what we want

So much less expensive than buying both a bigger boat...
and a bigger truck

Have only stayed at Hontoon Landing up till now

Do y'all have any other suggestions?

Hontoon Landing is across the river from the State Park, and has rooms, as well as slips.

There are houseboats for rent--drive one of those and tow the C Dory 22.

Welaka Lodge & Resort in Welaka.

If you have an RV, there are any number of resorts with RV sties and launching ramps.

Riviera Resort and Marina are close by.

There are more up in Sanford, also along the River further North

Well now, since you have a trailer boat, take a look at this one. At least it is on our side of the no crossing line (Canada USA border).

Rosario is nice... but that 3,300 mile commute from Florida to Washington State may be a bit much. The OP was asking about accommodations on the Hontoon River, which is in Florida. But, it is good to have options.

Jim, Yes, Options are always good. And, I thought he might just find some somewhere between there and here

Couldn't be sure if he was actually just looking at the St Johns river until I went back and looked at the thread title. Whoops, my bad.

Honestly, would be nice if this was a generic thread for lodging anywhere...

but I'm most interested in Florida right now.

What I'm running into in Clearwater area along the intracoastal is any motels with actual mooring have rented out their slips...

They have lodging but not if you're coming by boat.

And Bob, my RV days are gone

We've really downsized since we both quit working

There are resorts which have slips- But they are not going to be cheap--you will pay for the slip and hotel room. Or you can stay at the resort and take the ferry to Hontoon State Park where you can leave the boat. Any hotel in the area is then available. Find a place to leave the trailer which is secure--and drive from the hotel to the free ferry.

Weeki, you might check in Astor. There's a number of riverfront places there that have moorage with them, and when I'm in the area there's empty slips. You'd be within a few miles of Silver Glen Springs and Lake George too.

Looks like they have a boat ramp on site, and storage for your boat and trailer. Let us know what you find out please.....

James

Will do

Next trip is to Brandenton/Sarasota for 8 nights mid November

But with all the wind we've been having in the Gulf

Been thinking of options

Heading south the start of protected water is just south of Tarpon Springs. Then the only open water is Tampa Bay.

James

Yea, been around and up the Kissimmee River

Was Kissimmee Boat-A-cade years ago

This boat, I've only been as far south as Madeira

Rented a house on the bay in South Bradenton

Wishing now for good weather
