Retirement, Free At Last

After 32 years at the Post Office, I finally retired yesterday. WOO HOO!! :cake
Starting retirement on Leap Day, there must be some significance to that.
Ann is a little worried about me being around the house all the time. ( LOL )
I have a few projects around here that will keep me busy, at least until summer hits.
We plan on spending more time on the boat, going to C-Dory gatherings, and exploring Desolation Sound. We didn't put Rock-C in the water at all last year. :cry I hope to make up for that this year.
Last fall I picked up a small sail boat (Montgomery 15), that I can use on the lakes around here, and take up to the San Juans by myself when Ann's work schedule won't allow her to get away.
I'm pretty excited to start this new chapter in our life. At times, it seemed like it would never get here.
I hope to see you on the water.

Congrats Terry! Hopefully, we will see more of you up in this area.

Can't wait to join you in the 'retired' category; however, it isn't gonna happen for at least another ten years or so. God help me.

Stay safe and enjoy the extra time on the water.

Take care,
Dan, Tanya, and Hannah on C-Renity

When my bride asks me what day it is,I say"saturday".Yesterday was saturday & tomorrow is saturday so this must saturday! Retirement is wonderful but the pay kind of sux. Vern

Enjoy this wonderful time of life. Time freedom. Like all freedom, it carries some responsibility. It's up to you to find creative, exciting, challenging, enjoyable ways to fill those hours that are now yours. Go for it! And, congrats, you deserve it!

Far out, Terry - congrats!

We're right behind you...and like you, didn't put the boat in the water at all last year.

You've got a two month lead on me, but let's have a little friendly competition over the next year to see who can reverse their pathetic boating record the most.

Congratulations. You won't see how you had time to work in a few short months! Enjoy retirement--and do those things which you want to do NOW. Don't put them off.

Congratulations!

I am under contract until July 2013 and the silly season of elections and bill filings for the 2013 legislative session is already wearing on me. I planned to work until age 70 in 2017 as my wife won't be 66 until September 2016 but I am already wavering!

Enjoy!

Congratulations Terry! What Dr. Bob just said is the absolute truth (at least it certainly is for me!). Today is the last day of my 1st 6 months of retirement and I am extremely busy! I joined the CG Auxiliary three years ago so I'd be sure to have something to do when I retired. As soon as they learned of my retirement on 9/1/11, it only took them 2 1/2 months to ask me to become the Vice Flotilla Commander. Now I barely have time to shave in the mornings  ....and often times don't..... Also beware of weight gain. I gained 15 pounds in 4 months, so now find myself at an athletic club every Monday, Wednesday and Friday pumping iron, working out on an eliptical machine, doing abdominal excercises and swimming. Additionally, on Wednesday evenings I'm in a grueling hour and 15 minute water aerobics class. I've sucessfully lost 10 of those pounds that I gained and I'm feeling great!

Enjoy life on your terms now!

damn fine deal Terry...someday I may retire, I enjoy my job but it would sure be nice to be able to do things on my own time schedule.

DaveS, boy I think they may be screwing up putting you in charge of the vice flotilla :)

Great news Terry! I know you've been looking forward to it for a long time. Hopefully we'll see you up here in the Puget Sound/San Juans this summer.

I know that retirement feeling. After 43 years of being a nurse, I retired this month! It feels strange, but good. I had the opportunity to own a 15' Monty and was it ever the sweetest little thing! So stable to sail and so easy to handle. Loved sailing on the rivers and lakes! I really liked the 22' C-Dory too; but, we're talking "apples and oranges" there I think. Both boats are quality built for sure! Good luck and have lots of fun...I already have some horseback adventures lined up!

Congratulations, Terry! :thup Wishing you all kinds of fun as this next chapter unfolds. Feel that weight lifting? No matter how much one enjoys their job, knowing that your time is truly yours is the best part of being retired.

Enjoy!

Best wishes,
Jim

Thank you all for the kind words of encouragement.
Good friends and a soul mate of 30 years, can it get any better than that?
Terry
