Recovering from Covid

Hi Everyone
Just a quick note to share I just got a new Halo 2 and point 1 from harbour Chandler for Christmas I was quickly sidelined and almost put out of commission with a strong hand of Covid with pneumonia

I am still in intensive care now and have been for over a week Just today they finally took off the heavy duty ventilator for a less invasive one

I am going to make it!

For the first time again I have been reading the posts everyone has written of summer travels

Gives me something else to think about as I lay here

Many compassionate people have surrounded me with their prayers and I can’t say enough kind things about the medical staff who have taken care of me

Cheers to a better coming year for all of us
While we play, remember to play safe!

Oh my! Thank you for letting us know and I certainly wish all the best for you.

It really makes this crazy world hit home when it takes hold of someone we know, and even more so when it is someone dear to us. It is also very helpful to everyone when you share of the struggles because it opens eyes wider, as well as hearts, and makes us more careful of our own well being and more caring of those we can help or encourage. My sister lost her son to Covid late last year. That really changed my view and made me take much more seriously all the precautions and advice from the professionals that I may have previously thought a little exaggerated.

Please be well and continue to improve!

Mike

C-Val, Thank you for pulling through, and for your post. WOW it is great to hear you are this far. There are so many who have not made it around the corner or over the top. I have had 2 of my cousins taken by Covid. I am a retired Respiratory Therapist, and I have been promoting taking the warning VERY SERIOUSLY since they started. I have just signed up for my vaccination. YES, next week. Can't wait to get my second shot.

So glad you are making progress. Keep working on whatever they have you doing to get better. Breathing is a good habit, keep it up.

Thanks for sharing your story, and for sticking to it. Had I known earlier, you would have been specifically in my prayers. You will be now. It may be a long haul but you can do it. Stick around here, you have friends pulling for you.

Wow! Sorry to hear what you've been through, but glad you are getting on the other side of it. Sending good vibes your way for continued rapid improvement.

Yes, it is real AND affecting those we know and care about. Just this morning, I heard 1 in 15 in the US has tested positive. There are those who think Covid 19 is no big deal, but the numbers show differently.

C Val our prayers are with you. You are making a great recovery. First post I believe I have ever seen from an ICU....That is true C Brat dedication.

Get home and back on the boat ASAP.

Thank you for taking the time and effort to teach us all how real this threat is. I wish you all the best, now and for many years to come.

I am overwhelmed as I lay here in my icu bed by reading your kind and warm hearted responses and well wishes!

For many years you have always been there with technical support for me as I worked through various issues we all have

Your sincere being there for me now is a whole new expression of human kindness and care for one another. I don’t know how to thank you but to tell you I feel your support under me gently encouraging me “it’s going to be ok keep slowly moving forward- calmer waters ahead”

We are more than just a club-we are a network of caring and technical savy people who are there when it matters Your personal stories of both loss and health meant a lot

Thank you also on behalf of Val my wife who is at home

David, Thank you for the reply and keep up the recovery.

You are right, This is more than just a club and I have to admit, my heart is warmed seeing the responses here too. This is a community that is mostly caring and peaceful. Enjoy that.

David as you read this I am thinking of you and your entire family. That you are brought back to health and very soon return home safely. I can only imagine what your experiencing now but know we are all thinking of you, wishing you the recovery we all deserve from this horrible virus. May the waters be soon under your keel taking you to places undiscovered and previously enjoyed!

Gosh, David, a week in the ICU's a hell of a thing to have to go through. I wish you the best in your continued recovery. Just know that there's a lot of us here in your corner. :rainbow

Hi Everyone

Just want to update you with good news!
The hospital released me yesterday to begin my healing process at home

Today I am going to sit on my deck and look at my C Dory parked in front lawn and just imagine all the projects coming up !

I can’t thank you all enough for your support to me during this time!

It makes me really want to be there for others when I am strong because now I know what that support feels like!

Congratulations on your recovery my fellow BC boater !

I am fairly new to this site and want to speak up as to what a great community this is. Hopefully one day soon I will be able to chime in with questions and information about my C-dory if ever I can find the right one! In the meantime please accept my well wishes and I hope all of you stay safe.

David, thanks for taking the time and effort to keep us informed about your recovery. We are a strange little family, some like me with no boat but a BRAT to the core and others with much much more invested in our community of boaters. Those who cannot care about the Forum, the Boat, and the BRATS fall away, the rest become close while being distant. There are still some long days at the helm for you till you get to Home Port. I will keep you in prayer!!!

David, That is super good news. You will still be in my prayers, and mean time, keep up that dreaming and healing. What Bob said about our community I have not seen put that succinctly before, (Thanks Bob), it is really true.

That is great news, David! I'm sure the site of your C-Dory makes it really feel like home. Hope you are able to get on it when the weather is cooperative. Wishing you continued and full healing!
