Pictures not showing up

Help! Why aren't any pictures showing up in albums? All I get is the caption/description and a blank box without a picture. I tried on my Android phone and the same result. The site was down overnight, maybe servers are being worked on?
 
The good news is, all your photos and all of those in albums are there and safe. The bad news is, as you've noticed - the photo albums are currently broken. The "Hey it could be worse" news - any photos in your albums that have been embedded in posts should still be showing.

More info for those curious...

Starting a few days ago, we were bombarded by constant page requests from Brazil. I've no idea why nor what they are targeting, but it's been non-stop and brings the site to its knees.

The temporary solution is to move the C-Brats behind Cloudflare - a service that helps with such DDOS (distributed denial of service) attacks. Long term, we'll be behind Cloudflare permanently - however for whatever reason, placing us behind that service has broken functionality of the photo albums. I've not been able to figure out why.

Twice now, I've tried removing the site from behind Cloudflare in the hopes the DDOS attack has stopped and photo album use could resume. Both times, the attack starts up again within a few hours. So, for now - we remain behind Cloudflare with the photo albums broken, but the site otherwise usable.

Related, and a bit of a silver lining - the migration to the new site is very close to being functionally complete. My hope is to pull the trigger on that massive project within the next 30 days. This photo album issue, and many others disappear when that's done.

The developer we're using is not cheap, and while we're still able to cover expenses with what we've saved and the small amount that comes in from Google ads - every extra bit helps. Until we get on the new site, everything going into the C-Brat kitty is being used for the migration and hosting expenses.
 
Will, thank you! Good reminder to contribute again. What is this site worth to each of you? I read it every day--and is one of the best boating sites on the internet!

Also if I give something away, or sell it boating related, one of the caviats is that the recepient make a contribution of equal value to the kitty.

I too am very proud of this site. Both DaNag and Tyboo put a lot of time into keeping it going, and I very much appreciate it. I'm sure some hair loss has been involved! Colby
 
I really appreciate this site and the efforts put forth by the DaNag and Tyboo. Can't wait for the changes to be completed.
How does one donate and what is considered a good amount to donate as we all have different financial situations.

The Tip Jar is upper left on the Home Page. The drop down menu has suggested amounts. Give whatever you can/want. Easy Peasy.

EDIT: Just tried to donate myself, and PayPal, at least, appeared to get hung up trying to reconnect with the C-Brats site. It may be that even the ability to donate is made difficult by the migration. I'll be trying again in a while.

I'm seeing donations coming in, even this morning. I took a quick peek just now it seems to be working.

Hopefully just a temporary glitch.

RE the migration - I'll save the details for another post, but we're closer than we've ever been. The developer is working on the portal (home page w/widgets like we have here), then we'll hopefully be ready to pull the trigger.

Second try also failed. Third time was the charm. No idea what made PayPal temporarily unhappy.

No. The DDOS attacks have stopped for now, so I've moved us out from behind Cloudflare. As long as Internet gremlins stop picking on us, the photo albums will work.

The migration is getting very close - and you'll know it when it happens. I'll be sending out a mass email to all registered users before it happens, as well as announcing it here.
