Personal Reflections

Well, tomorrow is my 82nd birthday. I think it's about time I let you guys and gals know how I really feel about some things. Here goes. Being a C-Brat has been one of the real joys of my life. I fell in love with the C-dory boats one day years ago on the Delaware River while heading south under Philadelphia's Walt Whitman Bridge. A 22 footer was headed North. I was smitten. A few year later, here in Washington State my son and I bought a 22 and had a wonderful time fishing, crabbing and meeting folks at C-Brat get-togethers. Later we sold that one and Dotty and I bought first a 16 cruiser and then a 16 angler. We never went far, but were completely satisfied just puttin' around Lake Washington and Lake Union. Just sitting out there with the motor off and laughing to each other that Bill Gates was seeing us from his house with envy. Then one day Dotty fell getting off the boat at Coulon Park. We decided not to tempt fate any longer and sold our boat. In the years since I read this wonderful site every single day. Sometime I have to restrain myself to not jump in and say what a disgrace trump is or how stupid it is to deny climate change. So far I have been pretty successful, but apparently not always. When I see a nice 16 footer for sale I say out loud "I should buy that boat". Dotty will talk me down gently and say, "no boat and no pony, Marty dear." Anyway, I just want to tell you all, and I mean all, I love you and I thank you . You mean a great deal to me

You're a great C-Brat friend and a pleasure to know and share experiences and thoughts with.
Always love reading your posts.
Your sense of humor and depth of perspective are unique.
Hope to hear more of it for years to come!

Happy Birthday, Marty! You represent all that is good about being a part of the C-Brats. I still check in most days because of the fine people we've met because of this site.

Hope you enjoy this next trip around the sun!

Marty - you are one of the most important reasons that I continue to visit this place even after the boat is gone. I, like you, had to make that hard choice a while ago.

We've never met, but I feel a kinship based on your public presence here and also on the occasional private exchanges we've had. (Like you, my tongue is damn sore from all the biting of late. Stay strong! PM if you feel you're about to crack, and we can congratulate each other on our superhuman restraint.)

Have a wonderful day. Enjoy the bitter sweet of getting older. You are one kind-hearted, funny man, my friend.

Marty, I've sure liked your company these years that we've C-Doried together. I'll never forget our cruise to the Bellingham gathering several years ago, and lunch I think at Old Town Cafe. Your recollection of growing up in New Jersey really captured me. And I've never been put off or ascared of your progressive politics.

Happy Birthday, Marty, and thank you for continuing to enrich this wonderful website.

Happy Birthday Marty! You are without a doubt one of my all-time favorite C-Brats. You've always been fully supportive of me through the years and I cherish your friendship. I still remember the C-Dory 16 mini gathering on that cold March day in 2010 like it was yesterday. Great memories!

Take care my friend and enjoy your special day!

Yes!!!

Marty, I didn’t know you sold the boat, but I certainly understand why. Most of all, I’m glad you stayed with the group! We only met that one time at Sportcraft, but maybe we can change that.

Happy Birthday!

Marty,

I don't know you, but I wish I did. I don't even remember any of your previous posts, but this post above make me sit up and take notice.

Frankly, I wish I could be more like you!

Marty, Happy Birthday, 2 days late. Like many others, one of the many reasons I bought a C-Dory was because of the great folks on this site, and you stand out among those many. Congratulations on making those 82 years, and best wishes for a great go around the sun on this next year. From the time we shared Root beer at the CBGT at the Snoqualmie Falls brewery while everyone else was doing some other drink, to giving us the guided trip around the lakes for Elen and I, and all the PM's, it has been my pleasure to be able to call you a friend. Your insight to life, to boating and grip on common sense and humor have remained and I always look forward to seeing your posting here. My apology for a belated BD greeting but I was on my boat, enjoying some spectacular PNW water between home and Princes Louisa.

Looking forward to more of your posts, and to continuing on the boat. Hoping I have the good sense to follow your example.

I don’t check out this Forum very often, so late to your posting. Marty, during the first years following joining this group back in 2005, I had no idea your political persuasions, but I’m quick to recognize a top notch guy & that you are. My opinion has never changed over the years & times, I realized we thought differently on some issues. I’m very glad you decided to stick around as you’re among the ones who makes this site special to me.
