Non-C-Dory boat. I like everything except for it's style

john,
you are exaggerating the difficulty with wide load. less than 10 feet is basically not a problem--year around permit. Over 12 foot wide (The Chilkat is 12' beam) requires the pilot car. A 1 ton truck will handle the weight--Ok on the height.

When you get over 12-14 feet, height over 13'6" is where one gets into the expensive trailering. lots of 10 foot beam boats transported routinely in FL and most Southern states with the simple 'wide load' permit.

is it fun?--not as fun as under 8'(some roads will not allow 8'6")--but that is rarely policed...

Over wide and permits....YUK.

When I lived in Idaho, my neighbor, owned and ran a trucking company. They hauled house halves, double wide trailer sections all over the western states. He wound up with a big boat (sorry I don't know the exact brand or size) but mid 30s to 40s with a 10 plus beam. It was to go from ID to one of the Carolina's. The boat owner had his own trailer, custom built for that boat and my neighbor was going to do the haul. It took almost 2 months to get the routing and permits and pilot cars lined up. Height wise, the fly bridge was off and in the cockpit, so I think it was under the 13'6" limit. And that was a trailer boat, according to the owner.

Da Nerd, you musta listened real good to that fickle cat dude, because you sure have fine taste in boats. That Devlin Surf Scoter is a real jewel, and beautifully constructed. I think it's reasonably priced, presuming its systems are in good shape and the I/O has been well maintained and has relatively low hours. Personally, I prefer an outboard. I think I saw it at Anacortes last summer for 99K. And hey, your 26 Nordic is only the best looking boat that company ever made. Really well built, too. I wonder when we'll get to see that cute little critter.

Ty Boo, sorry for dissin' on Vettes! My neighbor has a brand new white with black accent Corvette and when I saw that sporty boat it reminded me of his shiny slick new sports car, which just has too much of a "hey, look at me" vibe for this mellow dude.

Oh goodness no, I did not take it as a dis at all. As a matter of fact, if you go by the prevailing attitude of people on the Corvette forum, most folks would think Corvette type guys deserve to be smacked down a little.

Mine is black so it sort of blends in.

Black and chrome: screamin stealth reagally

Takes the wind out of ya, just lookin
