New Photo Game

Nice post, Gary. And Harvey, now that you mention it, maybe we should plan a C-Cruise to Princess Louisa next year. Provided they'll open the gate.

:idea :thup :thup :love :thup :thup :D :thup :thup 8) :thup :thup :smile

Brock, Would love that. We can do. And if they don't open the gate maybe we will have to rent a submarine. :idea

Gary, I hope I am posting the right one for you. I followed your link so it should be right, however, if I did it backwards, maybe it is looking due West

If this works I can tell you how I do it, but you would have to have the same 'puter, I-net connection and browser as I do.

Right Click on the photo in your album. (first be sure it is the size you want it to show in the thread), go to the line that says "copy image address" and left click on that one. Then go to the box you are wanting to post in, and right click. Go to "Paste" and left click. Then highlight that address line, and go up to the tool button row to the box that says "Img" and click on that.
You should get this:
b]%20and%20this%20%20[b]
at the front and end of your image address. The address should end with a " .jpg "

One thing this game did for me was help me learn how to post images, and now, how to put them into my album.

Thank you Harvey. You got the picture right.

We tried that but if didn't work. Maybe it was our browser. We will check into that.

On my HP laptop It wouldn't work with the "MS Edge" so went back to Chrome. All good now.

A couple of "tips" to add to Hardee's useful instructions:

1."Right Click on the photo in your album."

I recommend you right click on the actual photo, not the thumbnail that appears with all the other thumbnails of other photos in that album. That is, when you get to the album, and you see the thumbnail of the photo you want, click the thumbnail so that the full photo appears (at that point all you are looking at is the single photo you want). It will work if you do the thumbnail instead of the actual photo, but the posted image will be small and of low resolution if you do.

2. "...that says "copy image address"

All browsers I'm aware of have this function, but they don't all use these words. For example, Firefox calls this function "Copy image location", and Edge calls it "Copy image link". All browsers use similar words, so it is not too hard to figure which function you need.

Ah. Got it. Thank you Sandy. We were not using quote copy image address unquote. Thank you Harvey and Sandy for your help :D

Looking forward to being on that very beach in the photo in two weeks.

Guesses anyone?

Sandy and Gary (et al) I think the Edge use of the "copy photo link" uses a different link than the copy location. I know I went through a ton of gymnastics with edge and several tech support folks and we could not get edge to do it, so if there is anyone who is using MS Edge and using that phrase exactly please speak up. Thanks.

It seems to me I had another issue with Edge and C-BRATS, but it is not jumping up and down in my head just now.

Harvey,

I don't use Edge normally, but I just tested adding a photo from my albums into a test post to C-Brats using Edge. It worked fine.

Note you said the link is named "copy photo link". I don't find that wording in my copy of Edge v85.0.564.63 (64 bit) under Windows 10. In my Edge the link is named "Copy image link".

Sandy, I don't use Edge, so was going from memory (bad idea for me
but I'm sure you are right in that it uses the "Image" moniker as there are more than just photos that can be transferred this way.

Yes, I know that spot well. But I just posted a pic, so will defer to someone else to guess this! :D

Thanks Mike. Simple place, simple photo and not that far off the beaten path. A beautiful location often passed up by many but when the winds are good it is a nice place to be.

We have a winner! Congratulations spd. This photo shows the north side of Clark Island with Lummi Island in the background.

You have won the opportunity to continue this game. We are now looking forward to the photo you post.

I don’t think this game is fair.

It is limited to Left Coast Brats with local knowledge, and does not reflect the bigger universe of Brats with pics of Bahama islets, Tenn river anchorages, Maine lighthouses, Keys hideouts, Georgia beaches and (MOST IMPORTANTLY) remote Gulf Islands National Seashore barrier islands.

I respectfully suggest that the rules be amended so that spd, as the well-deserved Winner, be allowed to be deluged with potential pics by partisans like me to pick the next proposed pic from those, rather than their own, if he/she/it/them so choose. Any idiot (and I proudly include myself in that group) can surmise that spd does not have nearly as many pics in his album, and perhaps on the SD card, as some do.

If the Rules were so amended, and if spd were to pick my proposed pic, it would be this one:

modules.php

Hint: When the Canadian flag is flown above the Stars & Stripes, one is not in the US.

Dang, I followed all the hints and it still won't paste.

Cheers to Fairness to Other Than Left Coast Brats!

John

Yes!

spd may well have a better candidate picture, but I do like that one.

I just suggest giving spd some options in hopes of opening up the potential cool places to visit. It is conceivable that spd has never been over 1,000 miles from home port, esp if still working (the poor sap, should that be the case). We all want future cool places to visit. INCLUDING the San Juans and BC Inside Passage, which we would be into RIGHT NOW if not for this dang pandemic.

We are personally very envious of many most excellent adventures.

Cheers to all and safe travels!

John

I'm more than happy to concede my picture selection to John. Having spent my formative years in Pensacola, I'm not sure whether the white sand beaches of John's home waters will satisfy the "identifying feature" requirement, but it will definitely make those of us jealous that are currently socked in by fog in the PNW.

John, I thought about that when I restarted this, and agree that it is something of a regional issue. Obviously there are some who have covered much more of our great country than others, but as you imply, most have not had that opportunity. My hope was to involve more participants, as I think it helps develop more skill on the website, (finding, posting to our albums and posting to the thread), but as you say, it does have that geographic challenge. I thought about doing a left siders and an east siders game, running each separately, but then we are into the middle land BRATS, and what about our Canadian friends?

Maybe not inundating the winner, but allowing the first person to post if the winner has not posted a new picture in 24 hours, would work. That might encourage more frequent checking the site, and decrease the regional advantage some.

I think that could work.
