New Owner... thanks for all of your help

I want to thank the C-Brat community for all of the help that they give to prospective C-Dory owners, often without even knowing they are doing it. They are a great group of people who freely share their wealth of knowledge.

I closed on my new CD 22 Cruiser, C-Doggie, this weekend. She came to me through the good people at Wefings Marine in Eastpoint, Florida. They too were a great help in pointing me in the right direction.

Sailboats have been my passion for many years and they were hard to let go. But, I suspect my CD will be a worthy successor with her great lines and long lineage. Not to mention, that she fits in much better with my current travel plans.

Next month we will take our van and trailer C-Doggie to several state campgrounds along the West Coast of Florida. We plan to go as far south as the Everglades before trailering her home to Omaha. Our dreams are to adventure north with her next summer.

Thanks again for all of your help.

Congratulations!!! You have a great boat !! Was this the one with the black canvas? I hope we can meet up in Florida before you head to Omaha. Cathy and I along with Pat "Byrdman" and a few others are planning a St Johns river cruise in Feb or March.

Congrats on the boat Al, great name, one of those I wish I'd thought of! Every once in awhile I miss sailing, then I think about all those days/nights I spent with cold saltwater and wind blasting me in the face, going down my back, eating with one hand, watching my drink fall off the seat -- then I come to my senses, I LOVE my C-Dory. Happy cruising!

Exciting times, Al; congratulations! That Nor'sea is a great boat; you will find your C-Dory is unique and capable, as well. I'll let you in on a sailor-secret: I wasn't so sure about the C-Dory during our long wait for ours. Even right after we took delivery, I still questioned myself as to whether I made the right decision. It's a whole different animal from a sailboat. The virtues come through in steps... like being out of the weather at the helm, no companionway to climb, a great view from anywhere in the cabin... and then you trailer it somewhere and it hits you... this is SO easy. As a sailor, you probably said to yourself, "Yeah, there's another guy who wrote the check, turned the key, and he's off," and wondered if you had become that guy? (Sorry, but this is the way sailors think... no disrespect intended. ) No mast-stepping or rigging to mess with. No reefing when the wind comes up. Ever had a headwind? :wink (Another sailor humor reference: the wind is always blowing from the direction you want to go.) Now, who cares? Go! Any ol' direction you want. :thup And instead of a long, slogging passage, you pull your C-Dory up on the trailer and haul it where you want to go at 60 mph instead of 6 knots. We love it!

We are still planning to head to Florida after the first of the year. Hopefully our paths will cross. Keep posting here... sounds like several of us are heading that way.

Enjoy your new boat - she's a beauty!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Great !! and great name too.... you should get together with Sea Pup (Keith) with his 16'....you guys could be the litter...oops, wrong term..

Now how about joining us on the Bahama's trip ??? If we ever get it pinned down as to when it might happen... I plan on getting to Florida in April.... and may just hang around the Keys....I understand they are as much fun as the Bahama's without the bureaucracy/

Anyhow Al....Congradualtions on the boat...You'll love it.

Congratulations.

There is good cruising along the Gulf coast of Florida even this time of the year--especially in a C Dory. It was in the 70's in Pensacola the last few days--sometimes colder--occasionally warmer in the winter.

If you get up the Pensacola way--Please stop in and see some other ex sailors.

Hey Al,

Glad you got home OK. Thanks again for your trust in us and your busines.

As you can see you have already been embraced by the C-Brats family...they're a great group of people!
