New Boat Lots of Small Problems 2007/8 C-Dory 22 Cruiser

Bob:

Looks like I have to eat crow for listening to the dealers telling me it was water sensing. I took it apart to look at the check valve. The pump is a Rule Mate 1100 and it has a float up inside the pump. Here is a picture of the Check. Looked at it under a magnifying glass and can't see any markings. Maybe you have seen one of these before. When you blow on it has a very easy flow. There isn't even an arrow for direction of flow.

Couldn't get the pic to display maybe the link will work.

Thank you,
The Rule 1100 is one which C Dory has used in many boats--I have two in my 25, without a check valve--but I don't worry about a little water in the sumps. The check valve looks similar, but not exactly, like one that Whale made. My problem with check valves is that they can accumulate debris or salt and leak, plus restrict foreward flow. Of course by keeping them clean, you can prevent the back leaking. The Rule pump does have a medium mesh screen which should keep most of the debris out of the discharge. This screen needs to be regularly cleaned.

Thanks again.

I've been having the same sort of small problems with my new19. The door on the under helmseat storage keeps springing it's hinge and I've several (new) cracks in the gel coat. I also live 6hrs from my Dealer( the Boathouse in Salmon Arm BC) and don't find them too interested in these problems. Had a sticky rocker switch on the trim tabs, a little WD40 fixed that for now. They blame C-Dory for the slow response.
All in all I love the boat and with 35hrs on it am getting comfortable with her.
