My boat is sold (South of Heaven)

Guys, I just sold my 25 today......I'm very happy but it was also bittersweet! I didn't think I would feel like that until Gus (buyer) pulled away with the trailer and then I knew it was OVER. Crazy!

The buyer is from Portland, Maine and is very familiar with the CD brand and boats. He actually lived in BC and the PNW for many years so when he came across my boat in New England he couldn't believe it! Lol.

This morning we did the seatrial (2nd one) and the survey/haulout. The surveyor was very thorough and knew his stuff (I may in fact use him for my next boat purchase). He went over everything in my slip for about 45 minutes and I even learned some things. Like the importance of galvonic isolator and the some interesting tidbits about the fuel tank.

After the seatrial we went over to the haulout staging area and then myself and the buyer had to get off the boat. As per the marinas regs we couldn't be on the boat for the haulout. I took a few short videos of the haulout and I'll post them below. Make sure you change the video resolution to 720 or 1080p.

So that's where I "stand" right now! I'm boatless (not for long) and no longer a C Dory owner (the latter is more troubling than the former). I'm currently shopping Camano 31's quite vigorously and have done a seatrial and seen several over the past month.....We shall see what the future holds.

As I stated before in another thread , I'm not going anywhere! You guys are stuck with me and my 2 foot -itis shenanigans. Haha. I will continue to be an active Brat and share in this great community. I really appreciate the friendships I've made over the past 2 years and they really mean a lot.....This isn't a forum, it's a family!

Moderators: I'll make sure I make another monetary contribution so I don't get banned! LMAO

Congrats Jason, and I for one want to hear all about whatever new boat you wind up with. Your postings have been informative and entertaining, and your fearless boat-upgrading has been inspiring. Good luck with your next one!

Congrats Jason. I know the feeling of seeing your baby pull away from you for the last time. Very bittersweet.

Coincidentally, when I sold my CD25 I also had the Camano Trolls on my short list. Nice boats (except for that helm chair :-) )

Good luck with the next phase.

In my experience selling a boat is a non event.
Note: no self kudos when I sold mine.

A non event is still an event some may celebrate.
Just like doing nothing is still doing.

It all boils down to where you are upstairs.

For me, selling a boat gives freedom to search for another.
That's exciting and probably the best part anyone can experience
who understands looking may trump owning.

Aye.

Localboy: It's probably not anything earth shattering but the surveyor was explaining to me and the buyer that the tank was mounted slightly off the ground. So that even if there were some water in the bilge (like many of us had evidence of) the tank wouldn't be sitting in it.

He also told the buyer that "pitting" in alloy tanks is usually blown out of proportion. Unless there is MAJOR evidence of metal pitting......

Bill and Rob: Thanks!

Rob: The helm chair is an easy swap out and upgrade! Just like carpet, upholstery etc.

Just curious, but what upgrades are people doing for that chair? Assuming it hasn't changed, it was always a folding directors style chair with some straps to keep it from sliding around. I do believe that Camano is now being produced by another manufacturer, so maybe they are doing something more permanent.

The visibility from within the cabin is amazing on those boats.

The new Camano Troll has the built in helm seat on starboard, followed by the dinette lounge aft. The Galley is now up, the stateroom is larger and there is a stall shower--plus a nice price. See here.

The Camano troll that was at Bellingham last year had a custom passenger seat to starboard. It was made of Stainless steel tubing and cushions. It allowed the passenger to sit up high and see out the front window. I sat on it and thought it was a great and a natural up grade to the boats.

i have seen the new boats by Helmsman yachts and dont really like the lay out. You get a bigger bed room but the cabin is overly crowded to me.
