Lake powell late september/early October?

WOW we would like to be there so bad. I have never met a c brat I didn't like. We were there In June and Aug..June was a little cold and Aug was crazy, to many jet skis and house boats. Some of these drivers are very inexperienced. September seems perfect! I just had open heart surgery and am going to play by the rules! Where is the sign up sheet for next year! Y'all have fun hear

I have driven a number of steep, shear drop off roads, with big trucks and RV's. But I would wouldn't want to attempt The Moki Dugway towing a C Dory 25. My concern would be some mechanical problem with either the truck or trailer... I don't know about Moki Dugway, but many of the roads I have transversed like this were so narrow that sometimes a vehicle had to back up to a wide enough passing place. The rule was down hill going vehicles had to back up. In reality size counted. Occasionally I would have to put the truck in compound low and "growl" a bit....

Looking at the State restrictions: speed limit 5 mph, advise against vehicles over 28 feet in length. Discourage large RV and trucks towing trailers, width is only 1 1/2 lanes wide. (Probably two cars could pass, but not a car and a C Dory..?)

Bob nailed it. My concern really wasn’t so much the ball as any mechanical issues even tho I keep my vehicles and trailers in good shape. From what I’ve read you should be able to see ahead for opposing traffic before the corners. (Unlike the Apache Trail.). Not sure how long the available pullouts are. But it’d still be fun! Lol

Probability is increasing that C-Traveler will be there, again. Likely launching on the 24th next week at Halls Crossing. Tempted to run Moki Dugway, but since I'm coming from the midwest, I'll come in from Blanding direction. Colby

Discovery will launch from Bullfrog on Wed. the 23rd. We will be uplake toward Goodhope Basin fishing, and we will go to Cedar Canyon on the 25th or 26th. Hope to see a few C-Dories at Powell this year.

Most likely towards the back of the canyon. Last year the water was 20 feet higher so we won’t be able to get that far in. It’s not a real big canyon so just watch for C-Dory’s listen on 16 and 68 for chatter. See you there.

Leaving Palisade, Colorado this morning (Sunday) with Mystery Girl. Should arrive at Halls Crossing this afternoon. Will keep an eye out for everyone as the week progresses.

I will be leaving home with C-Traveler tomorrow and plan to launch at Halls Thursday (Sept 24) sometime in the afternoon. Then pulling out early on the 1st to return home. I'll head up towards Cedar Canyon if it isn't too late, otherwise on Friday. Brent, I'm thinking about getting a fishing license and dropping the down riggers. What kind of bait or lures are you using? I was thinking Frozen Anchovies, otherwise various lures. Colby

We are home after a 5 day trip to Lake Powell. Six boats in attendance. Discovery, C-Traveler, Voyager, Cat-Claw, Mystery Girl, and Deja La. The lake was as busy as I have ever seen it. People social distancing from all over the country. We stayed in the Goodhope Basin area. Cedar Canyon was a zoo. Ticaboo Canyon for us most nights. Fishing was good for Stripers for us. We cooked up four fish for hor devours on Saturday night. Most of the group are still on the lake.

Brent and Dixie bib a great job with the strippers. Very good eating. So good that I will try fishing the next time at Lake Powell. Lew

Had a great time. No fish on the end of my line for me, so Brent and Dixie's fish tasted great! I traveled the last couple of days with Mystery Girl, and we'd catch up with DeJa La a few times. So glad I turned back around 5 days after being home from our earlier time out west. Just Mystery Girl and Deja La are still on the lake to my knowledge. I rafted with Bill last night, across from Hole in the Rock and then left early to pull out at Halls. I had thought about taking the Ferry over to Bullfrog, to drive home from there, cutting off about 50 miles, and just for the ride. But I guess it's having mechanical problems and has been up and down all week. It was down this morning, and probably for the rest of the week. Sending this from Montello, UT, on my way home. Colby

Colby, sorry I missed you in MontiCello, UT, It is my stop and fuel up spot going south. Have a safe trip on the road, enjoy and be careful, that bug is still out and about.
