Just sayin'

The "Admirable" and I have decided to spend the next year or so concentrating on covering all the land based bucket list items that we have missed which will mean that there is one seriously underused boat sitting around doing nothing.
Not wishing to break the rules or abuse the priviledges of this site and hoping to continue our long term membership of the Brat society I am not posting a for sale notice but suggesting that if anyone has an interest then keep your eyes open at EQ.

That said we will probably turn up at one or two events and may even find our way back into a C-Dory in the future :-)

Many thanks to all of you for a magnificent forum and for all your help, friendship and company over the years. We will still be lurking and stirring up trouble from time to time

Welcome aboard the ranks of "transitioned" from sea to land folks on the Brat site. We have enjoyed your company and posts with the Brats -- stay in touch through the site -- continue to share your knowledge, experience, and good humor with all those of us in the pub -- and welcome ashore.

El and Bill,

Thanks for the kind words. You know darned well that you are an inspiration to all of us and we are proud to follow in your footsteps.

Good luck Merv and Kathy. Sorry we won't be seeing you guys on the water much but great to hear you will still show-up for some events.

The dogs ought to enjoy the 'new' terra firma outings. Drive carefully!

Take care,

I can testify that it is not that "easy" to give up the boat...

Which brings to mind--maybe we could set up a "charter service" for interested C Brats, or potential buyers. For example we may not be using out boat due to land trips during part of the season--maybe someone would want to charter, a well parked boat, and use it for a few months... or a well traveled C Dory 22, and use it in some areas...

If you are serious about selling, I suspect I'll see it on the R 246 owners site...maybe Marie would want a west coast boat again??

Bob,

I know what you mean. We loved our CD22 but were just a bit too old and arthritic to fold up nicely in it :-) The loss of that was offset by the purchase of the RF246 which really had everything we needed. However, we agreed that our medium range criusing plans had been fulfilled and our long range plans could perhaps be better served by specific voyages and chrtaering or having someone else drive.

We will take a year or two in the nice shiny new Winnebago View, see the Grandkids, places we want to visit etc. and then re-evaluate.

I have almost never been without a boat in my li69 years so it's highly likely that we will revert to a CD22 at some point so we can go fishing and meet our friends at the CBGT's.

The RF will be sold via EQ as they are totally familiar with it and all the modifications and Les is the perfect guy to correctly inform any prospective buyer.

Hi Merv and Kathy,

After visiting with you last fall, I could see there was some land wanderlust in your eyes. Someone is going to get a very nice boat with that Rossi. We wish you fun and joy in this transition, but know you will be back... that view of the water from your lovely home (when you visit it) will draw you back. In the meantime, there are so many interesting places, umm... surrounded by dirt. That Winnebago View will be a great platform for exploring: all the amenities in a size that will let you visit all the National Parks. :thup

We'll look forward to seeing you again - land or water.

Best wishes,
Jim & Joan

Sorry to hear this, but we gotto do what we gotto do.

Your welcoming warmth and hospitality to us was much appreciated on our first Friday Harbor GT and I know M and I will miss Merv's sarcasitic English humor.

Merv and Kathy,

Want to wish you all the best in your interim cruising. I think you picked a pretty nice alternative, so go and enjoy. (And one of these days, maybe at a CBGT or a State park somewhere) I can get a peek through that windshield too. Is it going to get tuned up like the Rossi, (AIS, SSB and wine cooler too?) You are going to love it I'm sure, and if you need a water fix, just give me a hoot.

Have really enjoyed meeting you two, sharing and all the great posts. So don't go being strangers now. See you around the corner, somewhere.
