Jim and the Blond but mostly about Izzy

C-BRATS, for those of you who follow Captain Jim and the Blond and their cat Izzy (former owners of Wild Blue), Izzy has some serious health issues. If you are of that persuasion, you might raise up a prayer for wisdom for Jim and Joan as they face some difficult decisions as to what path to take here and of course for Izzy who is about the cutest cat you have ever seen. Jim still publishes his almost daily blog, many thousands of us check in on a regular basis, I miss the Wild Blue stories but life is not all about C-Dory adventures (but close).

PS: Jim posts on this forum and of course many others so he will see your reply here in time. BJ

Bob, Thank you for that notice. So kind of you. I miss seeing Jim's post so regularly and have lost the link to his blog. Would you be so kind as to include it here (and I'll try to be better at keeping track :disgust )

By all means, prayers are important, and pets are family too. Izzy is pretty famous, and I'm sure well looked after, but that doesn't make some decisions any easier. Prayers for that family for sure.

We had to put a cat down. Not fun. The Mrs mourned for weeks... Best of luck to Jim and his Mrs. I love dogs, but cats are cool too.

Hello C-Brat friends. While I have sometimes been accused of over-sharing, I posted this only on our blog. We are on our way to Phoenix where there is an animal surgical specialist (nothing like that in our area). Our sweet little Izzy has an aggressive cancerous grown in her throat, surrounding her trachea. The past two weeks have been a lot of visits to Izzy's vet, and this finding just a couple days ago.

As you can imagine, our hearts are breaking. Izzy is just 9 years old. She has been coast to coast to coast... on Wild Blue, and in our motorhome. She is not "a pet," she is our little furry girl. Much of the traveling we do has been decided based on our ability to travel with Iz - she goes where we go.

Some of you have read the book I wrote about our travels with Molly... I can't believe that has been over 9 years since we lost her. I'd love to say that I have the same communication with Izzy, but it is only recently that we been able to get through that barrier. Molly was worldly, wise, and communicative. Izzy is more shy, but the absolute sweetest feline I have ever seen. I can't bear the thought of losing this special girl, but she is fading; likely that the cancer has spread. She got to go for a short walk yesterday, which was a special treat for both of us. Today, she is not strong enough for that.

Please know I appreciate your good wishes and I hope you will understand if you don't hear from me for a while. Lots of miles yet to go. This C-Brat place has been very special to us, and I know some of the Brats have met our little furry girl.

One of my favorite images from our time in NYC on Wild Blue...

Jim and Joan,
Marie and my prays go out to you both and Izzy. We know how hard it is to have an animal who is part of our family fall ill, and have their life compromised. Angel sends a special tail wag to Izzy!

Jim and Joan, no wonder I was so fond of you when I met you and Molly more than 10 years ago. You love and respect your kitties, and their love and trust in return was plain to see. Cats and dogs enrich our lives, enlarge our hearts and teach us to be better people. Buster, and the decades of fur kids before him taught me sensitivity and unconditional love.

I'm so sad to hear of Izzy's aggressive cancer. She's much too young to face this dreadful condition. A big hug from me to you, and to your very sweet girl Izzy.
:love

Patty here. Well this is just heartbreaking news. Catman has a way with words and we echo his post. We will definitely be thinking positive thoughts for you.

Jim and Joan,
We also send out our prayers to Izzy and the both of you. We feel lucky to have met Izzy and Sunshine does, too.
You guys take care.
Patrick, Kim and Sunshine

Thank you again for the kind words, folks. Our hearts are broken, but our little furry girl Isabella is in peace. We didn't make it to Phoenix, but found an emergency animal hospital where the staff was kind and compassionate to help us.

Nine years with Izzy, and we have many wonderful memories. Right now, the reminders tear this hole in my heart even bigger, but I treasure the time we had and her wonderful spirit.

So sorry to hear this guys. Izzy was special
My first C Brat gathering in FH, I never saw so many boat cats before! Izzy was a big part of your family I know. This is hard.
Peace to you both
Godspeed Izzy.

She was a cute one for sure, and while we never got to see her in the fur, I have enjoyed the many photos of her on your blog. Sorry about your loss down there.

Rest up and remember the furry expressions. No two cats are the same, and our current furry housemate sure could use a bit more Izzy influence. She has been a pain in the rear lately. Very different from KiKi, who was recently immortalized as the name and face of the small catamaran we started enjoying last summer.

The time you have with the furry ones is never enough. I will give Baxter and Lucy some extra petting today.

Jim and Joan,

We're so sorry for your loss. Izzy has been a valued member of your family for a long time. She will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with the two of you. Take care.

Jim and Joan, Sorry to hear the news, but glad you found a compassionate and helpful wayside. You will always have great memories, and though the hurt seems unmerciful now, with the passing of tears, hugs and time, the good memories will win over the hurt.

Hugs and prayers.
