Is it spring yet?

Went for a nice motorcycle ride Saturday in the sunshine after two days on the boat. Planning a five day BC kayaking trip for March, headed to an Oregon beach in two weeks for a few days, followed by six days skiing in BC next month, ........... Guess we are natives

By the way, I hope you all noted that bright thing in the sky for the last FIVE winter days! Don't let a little discomfort insulate you from life.
If other folks are avoiding it, we start considering it as an option.

Numbness doesn't always come from the cold.

I started to clear my driveway but it turns out it's ice not snow and it's a good 6 inches thick. So.............. I went back inside. I don't need to go anywhere until April anyway...

For once the weather here has been awesome for two days. Blue skies and sun. Still in the 40's during the day & 20s @ night, but compared to the rest of the nation, I ain't complaining. 8) Wish I wasn't working though....

I'll drink to that! Just finished clearing the driveway from 20" of snow. Some of the drift mounds were over 3-ft.

I picked up a leaf off of the driveway this morning.....nice and sunny here for a change....not even raining.

(I know your "pain" clearing snow. Did a lot of it in Montana, just a slight bit here, but certainly not today).

Hope you are keeping warm... :thup

Nope we have 3 "of ice and snow in the forecast.
I cant wait to retire and move to FL and sell my snow blower, Carhart overalls, wool lined boats

"....and wool lined boats"???

That also fits under the "Pain Free Insulation Solution", no?

Joe. :thup

..

I know the feeling. When I moved here I didn't even own a sweatshirt. I kid you not...the first week I was here I had to go to Fred Meyer and buy one!

Now I'm very familiar with:

-Gore-tex
-goose down
-Fleece
-"hoodies"
-Long johns/thermal underwear
-Wool socks
-Did I mention Gore-tex?
-Winter gloves
-Ice scrapers
-De-icer (WTH is THAT?)
-Hand warmers
-a "flue"
-Daylight Savings Time (WTH is THAT?!?!)
-snow shovels (a shovel JUST for snow?)
-tire chains (I have to get down, onto the ground, and put what where?)
-those rubber things you put on your shoes that have golf spikes on the bottom so you don't land on your arse in the ice
"Under-Armor" cold gear
-What's a "pellet stove"?
-Did I mentioni Gore-Tex?

..whew....I wanna go home.

Heading out to do a little Winter Springs fishing this weekend around Bamfield.
Weather should be around 8 during the day with a little rain forecast for Saturday and some sunshine on Sunday.
Sure feels like spring around here but we haven't had a bad year this year compared to last. Alot less rain.

I saw two guys going out fishing from John Wayne yesterday about noon. One was dressed up like an Eskimo, Big Boots, gloves, parka and a big thermos, the other in a sweatshirt with the sleeves cut off, and jeans and tennis shoes. It wasn't a C-Dory, an Arima, canvas top and no bulkhead. Air temp, about 50ish, bright sun, no clouds, and pretty flat water. Spring is here.

Sounds like a local was taking out a CA friend for a fishing trip.

-10 windchill tonight. I've got my wood stove stoked up to 91 on the thermostat...enough to have the front door and a window open in my cabin. Spring is still so far away here I'm doing all I can to forget about it...and make time for another PNW escape.

But when spring/summer finally gets to Superior-land...it's wonderful :)

I knew someone would suggest that... kinda like when Tom and Susan took us out for our first ride on a C-Dory. 8) It was 47º, he was wearing a sweater, Susan had on a light jacket, and Joan and I were in Gortex jackets and gloves (our winter sailing foulie gear). It's all perspective. :xlol
