Interesting 22' in AK

Maybe a bargain for anyone near Joint Base Elmendorf-Rich, AK, as there is a Cruiser that is posted on the US Government's contracted agent for selling used, new and sometimes junk Government materials and equipment. No outboard but there is an 06' boat and trailer. See govliquidation.com
Best regards,
Steve Baum

Wow, that's interesting. If I didn't already have a boat I'd seriously consider bidding on it. It looks like it's almost completely gutted (no motor, no steering, minimal electrical) but it's only 7 years old.

Given that 2006's with a motor and some electronics go for around $35k with a trailer, I'd imagine this would still be a good deal for around $18k.

That site is also BBB accredited with an A+ rating, so that's somewhat reassuring.

I'd be looking lower than 18K. There apparently is some bottom damage--unknown amount. Looks as if rigged for twins at one time--also wash down system. The table was set in the fully up position for some reason. Almost looks like a personal boat--not government use.

I looked at the bottom pic earlier and it looked like scratches from beaching or something, but I wasn't sure since I've never seen the underside of one without bottom paint. I liked that it wasn't bottom painted since it would be easier to see damage that could otherwise be hidden.

I just browsed through all the full size pics for the first time, and it does show heavy use (lazarette covers, dirty galley, anchor box) but it would be kind of a rewarding one to clean up. Looks from the asset label that it was owned by the base.

It looks like it has some growth on and around the keel strip. Ah, I just saw the note about keel line damage. Hard to tell from just pics!

Probably abandoned in the storage area by someone transferred who didn't want to bother who had probably collected insurance from a severe grounding where the motor(s) were destroyed. Just guessing tho. Maybe a steal for a local.

One of the pictures shows an asset tag that says:

DO NOT REMOVE * PROPERTY OF
Fort Richardson MWR
NAF ASSET

I wouldn't touch that boat with a 10 foot pole. Red flags are flying all around it. I know FT Rich used to rent boats and I wonder if they had a C-Dory in the fleet at one time.

It would make sense as a MWR boat. I was surprised that there was not more damage to the cushions. Also looked like fishing use with the large locker for line and the anchor retrieval buoy.

The marks on the bottom could be from loading and unloading onto the trailer without sufficient flotation (e.g. shallow ramp angle). The scratches on the right side line up with the bunk.

Even with carpeted bunks you can get some marks. My boat has some light marks from the bunks on the bottom (not nearly as bad as the picture in the ad).

A major concern would be water intrusion through the deck box mount and motor mount holes. As far as the keel (bottom?) it's hard to tell if the damage goes beyond the gelcoat. Hopefully mold hasn't gotten into the cushions.
It sure looks like a rental.

It was probably used as a rental in the MWR camp in Seward. It would have been rode hard and put away wet. Might clean up nice though.

It sold for $17,500 That's more than I would have bid. No motors, no steering and stripped of most of the wiring. Maybe an on site inspection would have made a difference.

That is an incredible amount. However, it might have just been dirty and scratched - you just don't know unless you look at it first hand. If somebody is handy and there is nothing major wrong with it, whoever bought it will be money ahead. I can't imagine buying a rental though.....no question it was driven hard by the Army and Airforce boys and girls.

Okay, a couple problems with this statement. First, the Air Force doesn't do anything hard. Secondly, while the AF is made up of boys and girls, the Army is filled with men and women. Hoo-ah! 8)
