Greetings from C-Dory

FaC-Dory Guy

New member
Hello everyone,

I have been enthusiastically a part of C-Dory since my son Scot and I became the new owners over 6 years ago. I retired from a regular job in July of 2005 and am now here to support the company full time. Over the years we have been thrilled with our association with the C-Brats. We have attended some of the gatherings where we have always had fun. We enjoy all the owners who visit our booths at boat shows around the country. We have always known they are our best sales force because of how much they love their C-Dory boats. All C-Dory Factory people who contribute to our annual open house love to entertain and support this effort. We look forward to next year’s factory gathering and a great future together.

My son Bret and I own a 22’ C-Dory named FaC-Dory Guys. We spent many hours fishing last summer and fall and attended the Lopez Island gathering last May. I want to assure you that we have a very passionate team here at C-Dory that is dedicated to building a high quality boat and providing excellent service. Several staff members here continually monitor and learn from this unique forum. If I can be of any specific assistance, please feel free to write or call.

Best Regards,

Rich Reynolds

A disclaimer on Rich's note above - Rich emailed me the text, then called me up to ensure I'd received it. We had a great chat on the phone, and I agreed to post it for him. You can expect to hear from him directly here, as he gets up to speed on the site. Rest assured, he reads here regularly.

I must say, after speaking with Rich and sharing a few emails with folks over the last couple of days, I'm pretty optimistic about this company again. I for one, am chalking up some of the frustrated comments I've seen (and made), to the huge void that was left when Jeff Messmer departed. He's going to be a very tough act to follow at C-Dory, but I get the feeling they're going to give it their best shot.

So please, join me in giving Rich a warm welcome here.

At a minimum...just don't piss him off. As of now, we're getting at least one more party out of them. :cake :cocktail :beer

Hi Rich -

Sure hope you can make Lopez again this year. I've got to say goodbye to my C-Dory 22 (Two Lucky Fish), but she'll be there with her new owner. I'll get to arrive in my C-Ranger 25 "Island Ranger". Hope to see you there!
Mac

Welcome, Rich.

It is nice to know that someone from the factory with a dedicated interest will be participating here. As you know, the owners here are some of the most passionate boaters around. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you in person next time we are in the NW.

Thank you for taking the time to write. :thup

Best wishes,
Jim Bathurst

Rich – welcome aboard. Glad to have you as a member of this group.

I would bet you are an OK guy. Never met you but have met your son Bret and his wife. My first & second impression of him was positive so you must be OK to raise such an impressive son.

I hope our paths cross someday on the water.

Rich, Thanks for chiming in to the site. I knew there would be a voice from the faCtory at some point.

I hope you can get over to the opening boating season at Lopez Is. I want to check and make sure Bret installed the Teak Hub Cap on your 22.

Rich,
Welcome to C-Brats. Looking to hear all the great things at the factory. If ever in Alaska please give us a call as you have a strong following.

Rich, good to have you active on the site. Real good! We enjoyed meeting with you at the SBS and our conversation certainly reflected your enthusiasm for the great C-Dory line-up of boats, the company, and where it is headed, as
well as for the vast network of C-Brats/C-Dory owners. Your commitment to the "big picture" speaks volumes.

You and Bret would be fun guys to be out fishing with. Enjoy, and knowing both of you, that will be a given.

Look forward to seeing you, Bret, and crew, next year at the SBS.

Mark....plying the waters of PWS.

Hey Rich, good to see you writing here. I wish I had been able to visit with you a little more than a howdy at the dinner party. It seemed like everyone was so busy and there were a lot of people to meet & greet.

I am looking forward to working with you or whomever it will be that will be in charge of the 2008 boat show and gathering. The Motel is already scheduled us in for next year. as soon as we have a confirmed date.

Rich
I hope you feel as welcome here as you made me feel at the factory. We had our boat in for some service a couple of years ago. You took the time to show us around the factory and answer all the odd questions we had. C-Dory customer service is one of the reasons we (Brats) love these boats.
Hope to run into you at one of the gathering.

H E L L O ! Being a new C-Brat and joining just before the s b s. I want to think the C-Brats for the party at the motel and i wish that i had met
everybody. They made us feel welcome and we appreciated the invitation..Also i would like to think the C-Dory people who gave such a welcome party at he factory..It was great !I wish i had put forth more effort to meet all the factory personal and C-Brats.Maybe next year now that reynolds confirmed another one. In my opinion anybody who owns a C-Dory whether a C-Brat or not in any size is a stock holder . FacC-Dory Guys, I think you again for the stock holders meeting and party. tucker

Rich: Good Day Sir! Great move on the factory part I think. It was great to hear that you and Bret actually do own and spend time on the boat for a couple of reasons. One, you know what we mean when we talk about how valuable each and every nook-n-cranny of space is on our boats...and...what we go thru when out on the waters. I have enjoyed the conversation of late with Bret and some ideas on the 22. Second, and most importantly, it truly gives the two of you a platform to spend time together, away from the shop, and enjoying time together. These are times that a dollar value can not be attached or reached. I also appreciate your time with me during my visits to the factory and quick talks at the show with the many folks looking at the C-Dory/C-Ranger boats. I for one, would appreciate keeping some type of "official" link between the two factories, and their personnel. Great folks at both shops.

I have to say that this years factory visit prior to the factory party was hands down one of the best nautical educational experiences I have experienced in my limited time around boat. One of your shop crew took about 15-20 minutes (sorry Scot and Tom...that was production time I realize), and showed myself, Jeff Brigner (new owner last year, C-Pearl) and our friend Bob, the process of the balsa core bottoms. I have a true appreciation for the tuffness of this hull for sure now...as if my little stunt on the Alabama River with the metal buoy was not enough  . You could tell this young man loved his job and had passion for the boat and his part of the process. Jeff and I were also able to share some ideas/input on just what happens once we have the boats...and some little things are not vaccumed out or cleaned up during the boat building process. This was a great twenty minutes, and for sure made this years trip worth every penny.

I also enjoyed seeing Bret and Jeff get to meet each other, and talk face to face with some minor issues on his new boat....and your factory support and follow up with our "local" (8 hours away from me now) dealership at Wefing's. We are all in this together for the simple fact that we love the waters of America, and we love our boats. We do not want to loose the lady that brought us to the dance,....AND BACK HOME AGAIN from some ruff ones.

I hope to one day soon be able to welcome you down south here. Know that you, your son's and any of your factory folks are welcome in my home. Come on down soon. I will be sure to stop by both factories (C-Dory and C-Ranger) during my next visit to the NW area.

Hello Rich, very happy to have a person to communicate with if needed. I am a little different than some folks as I have no concern with the direction of C-dory. I am one of the lucky ones, I bought my boat from Scot, in fact it was the first boat Scot sold after taking over the company. He spent many hours working with us to make sure it was just right. This included many e-mails, visits for a demo ride and numerous visit to the old and new factory. When we picked up the boat it included a test run with Scot and Gene on Lake Washington. Whenever Scot sees me he never fails to come over and say hello. I have had numerous up-grades done and have no concern if I needed some in the future that C-dory would be there. I am a believer in talking to the source about a problem, rather than putting it out to the public. It has always worked for me. I am looking forward to many happy years with the Mary Ellen. See you at the Factory party next year, Bruce.

PS: Enjoyed talking with you Rich at the SBS this year

Rich,

I know that you've talked with hundreds of people, but we are especially happy to have you involved with the C-Brats. We're pretty sure that you don't realize the significance of your first conversation with us at the 2005 SBS, but YOU were instrumental in our decision to buy our boat.

We had looked at it the week before, but without the benefit of a sales person to tell us it wasn't quite done. We had felt there must be something missing, so we were narrowing our search down to two other boats (which shall remain nameless). Then before sitting down to talk numbers we decided to take one last look at the Skagit Orca and then we got on the 25 cruiser again. That's when you started talking with us and your explanation cleared up our confusion. From then on we never looked back, we knew it was the boat for us. Ultimately we were handed off to Jeff M. and then Scott M. who handled everything from there, but you really made the sale.

We have always enjoyed the customer service we have received from everyone involved with C-Dory and we wish you all continued success. Hope to see you at more gatherings this year.

Rich, Welcome to the site! I had the pleasure of a relitatively long conversation with you last fall. I'll have to admit I was a bit confused at first-- after introducing yourself as Rich Reynolds, a Vice President, and saying "I am Scott's father"--.

I would love to see factory feed back on our problems, and I would love to see a regular "update" from the factory. For example often the C Dory web site is out of date, as to how the boat is built or what options are offered. As soon as something is changed, it would give us who are your best salesmen a heads up.

I am sure that most of the other C Brats, have people comming up to them and asking about the boat. It happens to me all of the time. At Hurricane Utah last summer a SUV backed into the pumps ahead of me as I was fueling the C Dory22. I thought, oh heck, now this guy has me pinned in. His first comment was "I don't want you to get out of here before I get a chance to look at your boat and you tell me about it." I don't know if he is a C brat yet, but he knows about the site, and a lot about the boat. That is just one example of why the C brats are your best salesmen!

Thank you

Bob Austin Pensacola, FL
