Great Loop

Have not seen anything here for about 5 days, just woundering on where you all were at?
See we are keeping up with you Great Trip.
Jim & Sandy

Mike is at Perdido Key, (I think in a nice warm condo)--and we will have lunch together tomarrow. It will be interesting to hear about the trip this time of year. A lot of respect for pushing on here!

Hey Brats!
We failed to realize how long since a blog or post! We are in Perdido Key Fl. and have been visiting with our next door neighbors who have a condo here. No better place to huncker down for a weather wait. Not much to report as they tend to keep us busy goin' to look at stuff and eating, and eating.
So far a GREAT trip even with the "wow, we haven't seen weather like this in 15 years" weather. Gonna hook up with Bob and Marie Austin tomorrow for lunch and lookin' foward to that! With any luck, we may shove off Saturday to head east on the Gulf Intracostal Waterway. We will work on a better schedule of posting...be safe and stay warm!!!

Mike,

I should be in Marathon at the end of the second week in March. It looks like we may be able to get together down there. I have your cell number in my phone. Have a safe trip!

Enjoyed the chat Brother, and hope your time with Bob & Marie will be fun as I for sure have been able to enjoy some good times with them both on line and on docks, waters and land. Learning a lot about some new things with dog adoption process now that Mom called them instead of me Monday...and if it had not been for a fellow C-Brat and a talk about the waters during one of their Dr. visits with the doctor that "Baby Sits" Lady during her weekend runs...I would have never known about it, would have gotten some rest over the past 3 nights, and would not have been hung in the I seem to be wrong about everything mode between a Mother, Sister, Wife and Lady.

But, we are gaining on it.

Cheers Brother... sooner or later, the weather just has to get better...and no inventoires.

Brother Pat....and Brandy told me to tell you hey.

Had a great visit with the crew of Gypsy. Pat, you ought to let the rest of the family out of the closet!

They are doing very well, considering the cold. But I'll bet they will be much happier in the warm weather!

Hello Mike & Miss B,
It sure looks like you picked the coldest year on record to begin your Loop. The forecast for SW Florida is the mid 60's till next Friday when we are suppose to see it break 70 degrees for a high.

I would take my time and enjoy all the little out of the way places along the Big Bend and hope the temps come back along with the sunshine.

Stay safe and keep posting to your blog...your not alone on this journey...your online crew craves news of your daily adventures.

Hey Mike Taylor!
That expression " we ain't seen weather like this in fifteen years" has been the key phrase here and all the way down the Tom Bigby, through Mobile and here at Perdido Key! No worry... we are having a great time and look foward to going where the big boys can't in the Big Bend!
Thanks for the line!

Brother...Great to see you made it back to the Brat site. Will post the below photo for you and crew...
Pictured, starting port side up front to back are
Brother Mike, wife Brenda "Miss B" then next door neighbor at home in MJ Herb,
Moving to starboard: up front to back are Bob & Marie (THATAWAY) Austin and then Marry Donna....and I am making an asumption here....uses MD.

Yes Bob, those who have made a Cumberland River cruise and met some of the family, or met Mom, Mike & B up at one of the C-Brat gatherings at the hotel around the Seattle Boat Show realise....our family may be missing many things....but, a good time is not one of them!

Safe, and warmer travels GYPSY...and friends they see on the way. Waiting for todays snow in Clarksville, TN

Thanks for the pic post brother!
We are at Baytown Marina, Sandustin Resort spendin' some bucks. A fellow Brat, Kip (?) and Cindy Mitchell, 26' Ventura, "Morning Star" told us it would be spendy but a unique place. That is an understatement! This place is a woweee! Really nice @ $2.75 a foot. We will sample some of the place and report. Statute mile 239 is the location. Morning Star hailed us on the VHF this a.m. and it surprised us. Morning Star if you see this, what was the HUGE tower on our satarboard @ st m 213 (apx)? Tommorow we hope to reach Panama City and realy would like to live on the hook for a change. B got this place for Valentine's Day!!! ...and maybe a belated birthday (Feb. 13th) Libations ain't comin' cheap. Nobody around here under 40 feet either...but we knew that comin in as Morning Star advised and offered a dockage at his Yatch Club if we wanted. Thanks to the "Star"! See ya'll 'round the bend!

Mike,

The tower on the beach between the Navarre Beach bridge and the entrance to the narrows is an early warning radar that is part of the Eglin Air Force Base complex. It is huge and built to withstand the worst that hurricanes can throw at it.

Glad that y'all are enjoying Bay Towne. Yep, as I told you--it is spendy--but it is a top notch facility and there are some really great shops and restaurants to visit at the Wharf. You'll have to post about where you went and what you thought of it.

If you read this tonight, on your way to PC tomorrow after you pass under the 331 bridge and just as you are entering the Canyon (the dredged cut from the east end of Choctawhatchee Bay and West Bay in PC), on the south side is a little bayou. On that bayou is a Florida State Park named Eden Garden. The water is skinny in there, but if you can check it out there is an old mansion left over from the lumber industry days. Pretty interesting.

Have a great trip,

Jim and Cindi Mitchell

Hey Kip!
Sorry, Jim, I have a hard enough time remembering my own name! Thanks for the info today about the tower. I could tell by it's construction it was no ordinary facility. Eglin being home to black ops and all.
Yes, we know exactly where the 331 bridge is. We rode down there lookin' for the Legendary Marina which Dozier's has listed at st m 251 at starboard just past the bridge. Wrong bridge!!! Legendary is at what, 233 and is at starboard at a bridge I can't recall the name of right now. The folks at Legendary were very appologetic for the misprint. But, hey!, it wasn't their error! Management was glad to be made aware of it. The stiff west wind and the medium chop made the ride back west a delight. :amgry Thanks again for the call and offers of assistance.

That boat has BALLS ! Perfect size !

On Edit - now that I re-look at the picture, and the location of the protrudes, maybe they aren't balls - re-name that boat "DOLLY" !

Thanks for taking us all along.

Perhaps Mickey? (look more like ears to me, since they are above the "eyebrow") I did study anatomy... well, it was in the backseat, not the classroom... but, I digress.

Enjoying the trip!

GYPSY's kinda sorta float plan which is to change due to mother nature, just having fun, needing to speed up and/or slow down to see some pre-plotted friends along the way....so read this as way, way....did I say way flexible, and is for sure accurate within a month, more than likely.

Now, that said...

General drift plan south all the way down and around FL, and not cutting thru the rivers and Lake Okachobee to the eastern side of FL, but, rather, enjoying the entire length of both sides of FL.

Couple/few days in each of these locations and travel: Now in Tarpon Springs, to Clearwater, to Brandenton, to Cape Coral, to Naples area.

Again...time lines subject to change, and what feels good for GYPSY. No inventories, no employees, no clocks, no real calendar, just enjoying the trip.
