GPS for finding adventurous sons

In my experience the SPOT works well for tracking family and friends when they are out of reach of cell phones. Keep in mind that the SPOT coverage area is not truly global, so if your sons are traveling in certain areas the SPOT won't work. I've experienced that in Hawaii and South Africa.

The tracking feature is neat. It updates the SPOT location on a map every 10 minutes, but it times out after 24 hours, so the user must remember to reactivate it.

Now I know what that thing was that Roger put under my seat...thought it was a bomb... but decided it was just one of those tracking devices.,.... think I should worry ?

Joel,

Unless there is a serious malfunction, (gaseous or otherwise) the SPOT will not explode.

Just be careful where you go now. 8)

How old are these "adventurous sons"?
You could give them an iPhone for Christmas and talk to them, text them or use the "Find my iPhone" app to locate them - presuming they are in possession of the iPhone. :xnaughty
