Curious if I'm not doing something right. When I fill up at the gas station gas spits out if I pump too fast. I have to go so slow to prevent this. Vent issue? Is this normal?
Thanks

Check for occusion of the vents. Is one side better than the other? Some have a slight kink and than can be straightened. The 22's generally are not too bad for that isse, I have found the older 25's a bit particular, with only one filler, those with two and you take the cap off the second it helps.

My 22 also does this. You have to be very careful with the fill rate once the tank is 3/4 full. The route the incoming fuel takes is quite twisty and this leads to a build up of aeration foam. If I am fueling in a quiet place, I can hear the fuel starting to backup in the filler so I can modify the inlet fill rate.

I have a Cleanway fuel spill preventer that helps.

I had to replace the fuel inlet hoses because the old ones cracked. I found that on my 22 the factory inlet hoses were too long and had a pretty good S in them. When I replaced the hoses, I shortened them for a straighter path. This helped some with the fill issue.

I, too, found out the hard way with my 22 that at 3/4 a tank (marked and visible on the tanks in front of you filling up) that it will fire up a foot out of the fill hole and splash everywhere. Well surely that won’t happen again, not when I’m waiting for it… it did. So now I just baby it and don’t get greedy filling up (“pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered!). I’ll be replacing the hoses and a bunch of stuff under there this year and hope to fix that issue as part of it. Thanks, ssobol, for the tips.

I also had that issues, replacing the fill hose by shorter one help a lot. But what I did to maintain the spill then, and still do it that way now, is to wrap an absorbent pad around the pump nozzle to block the gap. That will prevent any burped fuel to spray all over the place.
