Farewell little Valkyrie

Valkyrie

New member
For the last year Valkyrie, our nine year old Airedale, has been plagued by cancer. A short while ago, as I comforted her, Marcia released her from her suffering here at home.

Valkyrie was a tough, but sweet little girl who loved to do anything, as long as she was with us. Over the years she canoed, camped, sailed, backpacked, ski-jored, cruised and fished with us. Years ago, her growls warned us, in the early morning hours, of two men sneaking up on our tent as we camped in a remote national forest area in the UP.

Val was also my hunting buddy and we spent hundreds of hours hunting upland game birds and sitting in duck blinds, where she always shared my lunch.

Although she is now gone, she will always live in our hearts.

Rest in peace, my little girl.

Nick and Marcia,

So sorry to hear the news.

Your pal gets the front page...she was deserving of so much more, but let's all share in a smile, and enjoy looking at your girl in what was obviously a very happy place for her.

Hugs,

Bill

Nick and Marcia, A :hug2 to you both. And smiles for all of the warm memories that a wonderful :dog brought into your lives. Robbi

RAINBOW BRIDGE

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends there so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm, safe and comfortable.

All of the animals who have been ill, sick and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt, maimed or diseased are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content except for one thing; they miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his ears are alert; his eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion. Happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands caress his beloved head and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never gone from your heart.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separated.

Nick and Marcia,
I have tears in my eyes and sadness in my heart because I have such a soft spot for dogs. We send our condolences to you during this sad time. No doubt, Valkyrie will remain a constant memory especially since you had so many good times together. It's been since this time in 1997 that we lost our last Schnauzer (Fuchen Frau - which someone told me meant Foxy Lady, thus the name of our CD16), and a day doesn't go by that I don't look at the dog ads pining for another dog.

ps: thanks Bill, for the gorgeous photo of Valkyrie!

Nick & Marcia ~

My heart goes out to you in the loss of your sweet little girl, Valkyrie. Jack and I know only too well the pain you are feeling... but rest in knowing that you did everything you could for her and when the time came for you to make the ultimate decision... you did... and you did it for her! That's the most compassionate, loving thing you could ever do.

The pain of your loss will fade with time, and the memories of Valkyrie will become more precious!

Love ~ Bonnie

Sorry to hear of your loss. It seems that you had a wonderful friend. Be sure to keep the good times and things she did in your mind. She has now gone over the Rainbow Bridge and is in Gods care.

Loosing a pet is very difficult, about a year ago we lost out cat Mr. Black. He is replaced, but not forgotten by Mr. Gray.

We pray for you.

Nick and Marcia-

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss of your beloved friend. We all know how hard it is to help them into their final rest, but we know too how much they deserve their peace. It's hard to loose one of your best friends ever, but time will heal your loss, and well will again be together someday.

Joe.

Very, very sorry to hear of your loss. I have a lab and a boxer and they are truly my best friends. I can truly appreciate your sorrow and know how hard it is, we just had to put down our 11 year old boxer last year due to cancer. Just know that your buddy is in a better place now and is not suffering anymore. She will live on forever in your thoughts and memories.

I have read nearly all the 64,000 posts on here, and very, very few have made my eyes misty as yours did today, Nick and Marcia. I feel at once so sorry for your loss and so blessed that you thought us enough of a family to share it.

Mike

Thanks for putting her on the front page!!! I too needed a lift and a grin.

Mick & Marcia: Got yall in my prayers, and some of them are prayers of Thanks that we are able to be blessed on this temprary earth with great pets.

Dear Nick and Marcia,

Our hearts ache for you. Many of us know the sadness of losing a furry family member. The pain is tough to deal with, but will gradually be replaced by all the wonderful memories. Our pets depend on us for their needs, but ask so little for the unconditional love they give back. Please know that many of us will be thinking of you and Valkyrie tonight.

Our sympathies,
Jim & Joan B. (and Molly the C-Brat cat)

We are so sorry to hear about Valkyrie. I was just a little more than a year ago that we lost our Airedale, Winston to cancer also. It just seems so unfair that we can't keep them with us longer.
