Does anyone know if I can buy a side Logo decal from the factory ?

It is worth a try. Sometimes it even works. Some have had success with an e-mail via the contact listing, and some have made it by phone. Ask for the parts department, and good Luck

Under the old administration, a call to the Parts Dept followed by a nice "I rubbed my decal with Barkeepers Friend and now it's all white" tale of woe can result in a set of replacement decals of the new type. Free!!!!

Worked for me.

If you want the raised letter C-Dory yes you can get them from the factory. Picked up 2 sets for myself about 3 weeks ago. Dont know about the flat decals

The 2003 flat decals will detiorrate with any rubbing compound and some waxes. So be cautious.

What a timely post. I need two for my new to me boat as they were waxed too much.
Thanks for the info.

Here is where you can get a copy of the old style C-Dory, but it is not a decal. It's better than the decal and looking at it you can't tell the difference. It took a while and many attempts to get it right.

Don't forget to clean off the remains of the old decal.

Call Fast Signs in Carson City at 1-775-885-8899. They should still have this in their computer. And I've already paid the cost of making the "C-Dory" sign. All they have to do is print it on vinyl and send it to you.

Their address is: FAST SIGNS, 2300 S Carson Ste #2, Carson City, NV
89701 They're not free though!

If you have problems contact me and I'll go talk to them.

C-Bill,

Any chance you can post a photo of the vinyl logo patch. Also, curious as to size, (high and wide), for possible use on my pickup.

Thanks,

Harvey

I have a picture of the C-Dory vinyl patch, but I forgot how to post it. I spent an hour and a half trying with no luck. The Old C-Dory decal from Kent, Washington is the same size as the vinyl patch

You can see mine on the port side of this picture.

Sorry

As I said previously, this vinyl duplicate is the same size as the old Kent, Washington C-Dory decal. Instructions and a flat plastic to smooth out any bubbles should come with your new C-Dory patch.

The only Fast Sign business to have this vinyl duplicate is the address I gave you in Carson City.

Thanks for your help Joe!

I've been reading some of the older post and one relating to this one - just about a year ago reminded me - so I called Fluid Marine about the decal. I spoke to a young lady named Jill, and she said that she couldn't tell if my boat would have the old decal, or the new raised logo, so I bought a pair of the new ones. I called her ~ 1600 and shortly after I got an email from her said they were in the mail.

This also relates to the topic about Fluid Marine - certainly different response than those reflected in the year old topic.

What's the best way to get old decals off .I would like to put on new ones?

According to a thread on the Great Loop mail list - Easy Off Oven Cleaner. I haven't tried it so this is NOT a recommendation - just a non-professional suggestion.

Slowly heat it using a hair dryer or heat gun on low. eventually it will peel off easily. That's the "traditional" method. The trick is to heat it slowly so you won't damage the gel coat or the vinyl in the decal. I use the same method to remove the old registration tag on the bow as well as those pesky little yearly tags on my CA license plates before putting the new tags on.

The easy off is for painted names, not decals. I also use a hair dryer/heat gun, and low heat--plus a plastic scraper.

I will be deep into this tomorrow. Just bought a cheap hair dryer for the job. Low heat???? I will remember.

My Canadian friends call decals......."deck- als".

I have a bunch of new "deckals" to put on tomorrow also including new bow numbers. The Florida bow numbers expire at months end.
Had the boat name and model made locally for a reasonable price and excellent quality.

Well now..........the hair dryer helped get the plastic of the decals off ok but the "mungy" sticky adhesive left behind was a real bear. I tried lacquer thinner to soften it, then paint remover, then light scraping with a chisel, then more lacquer thinner and a rough rag. Finally got it off. Then used a fiberglass polish to shine it up before applying the new "deckals".
Today the new C-Dory raised decals arrived so I will take off what is left of the old ones and apply the new ones. THanks CD for your help.
I also bought another helmsman seat from CD that matches the one already in the boat pretty closely and they are shipping it tomorrow. :)

Use some stuff called "Goo-Gone" to take off the gummy residue. It works well.
