Yeah, Goof Off works too; probably the same stuff. [I took the tacky stickers Ford puts on each side of the bed of pickups off as soon as I got it; light heat with a heat gun, plastic scraper, Goof Off...gone.]
If applying "deck-als" or vinyl I'll then use wax & grease remover from an auto parts paint store to remove any residue left. Leaves a nice clean surface. Once the vinyl is applied and dried for a couple of days I'll go over it with a good quality carnuba wax to replace what the wax/grease remover takes off. The remover won't hurt cured paint, fiberglass or gel-coat etc.
