But we do use the portable (Honda EU 1000i) for battery recharging when cruising on the water, since the Honda 90 outboard (Pre 2007) only puts out 17 amps, minus what is used by the engine, and boat electronics etc). We use a 30 amp battery charger to keep freezer/refer battery charged.
