Daydream is Home at Last!

After 9 years living outside, suffering the ravages of UV rays all the time and algae growth every winter, we finally had Daydream detailed (and more, fiberglass ding repair, windshield wiper motor replaced and lots of other fixes, big and little) by Bitter End Boat Works in Bellingham (Hilton Avenue, right opposite the Squalicum Harbor East Entrance). When we moved north, the first thing we did was to build a big garage mainly to house the boat. Well, we picked Daydream up yesterday, and in a word, we could not be more pleased. Well, six words. Daydream is now home in the garage, out of the weather, and looking like she just came off the Seattle Boat Show floor. Photos do not do justice to the job Jesse and the crew at Bitter End did. They are a full service marine repair facility and can more than likely do whatever you need to have done. HIghly recommended!

What great news. I got a peek of Daydream in the shop before the makeover and hope to see see her in her new digs, all dolled up. Pat, congratulations! Larry
 
Living the good life now Pat! Now you have no excuses for all of those winter projects that come up. I love our covered storage although ours is not heated so the cold still holds me up sometimes.

Every time I finish waxing the boat or the RV, I think, "It's a shame that we'll just take it out and get it grubby again. Nahhhhhhhhhh!" :lol:

The new boat shop looks great. We have been fortunate to keep the Mary Ellen in our shop since new. You will not believe how much easier it is to take care of your boat. I often go out in the winter and fire up the stove and take a cruise. You will ask yourself why you waited so long. Happy boating, Big Mac
 
OK, a few answers! The garage is 26' x 40'. The boat bay is 16' x 40'. The garage door on the boat bay is 12' wide by 14' tall, so there is about a foot to spare on either side as I put the boat in, I do NOT want to be doing this in the dark! The other side has a 10' x 25' car bay with a normal garage door, and a 10' x 15' finished craft room housing Patty's stuff, and it also doubles as my office for the time being. Finally, there is a 10' x 40' loft over the car bay and craft room, which will have my office and storage (alll the CRAP we are storing is already up there on metal shelving. If we don't touch it in one year, by me it is gone, gone, gone). My desk and bookcases are up there right now, but since the office part remains to be framed in and finished, it is too cold for me to work up there, which is why I am using the craft room!

We'll arm wrestle over who gets to put the first ding in her! We are both more than capable of doing that with our typical crash landings (AKA docking). This is a big motivator to buy more and bigger fenders!
