Cruising RPM and Speed

Hi everyone… I’m trying to determine what the RPM range and speed should be for my 22 Cruiser. I’m running a Honda 100 with a 13 pitch prop. Thanks in advance for any help!

What's the diameter? My 22 with a 90hp uses a 13.5x15 prop. This will get the boat into the low 30's mph on smoother water if the boat is light. However, a C-Dory 22 at that speed is a kinda squirrelly and travelling at that speed is not relaxing IMO. The boat is more comfortable under 30 mph (again IMO).

Larry,
PM David, owner of Almas Only, as he has the 22 with the 100 and has it dialed in. David is also in VA.
PS, come go cruising with us in the future.

The 13" pitch is too low--should be 15 (unless there is some major difference in the lower unit reduction ratio)

Yes agree. 17 was too high and 13 is too low.

Thanks for your reply!

BTW I believe the honda 100 runs the same prop diameter as the Honda 90 …13.5 if I’m not mistaken.

I just added a performance test report that was conducted by BoatTest.com to
my help you photos (item 25). It was run using the 90hp, but should help
get you in the ball park.

Do you boat at Smith Mountain Lake?

First, let me say thanks for your reply and help! Unfortunately I'm not proficient with this forum yet so don't know how to access where you have indicated there are photos or reports.
Could you please send them to larry_mitchell@mac.com?

As for the 90hp being similar ...I was told the Honda 100 was the same as the Honda 90 except for being tuned for an extra 10 hp and requiring 92 octane fuel.

Yes, Smith Mountain Lake is about 40 minutes by road from me and I plan to cruise that lake often as soon as I get the prop and motor dialed in.
