I am about to purchase a center console C Dory but would love to speak with someone who has had one or has s been on one. Please!!! I have not been able to get any information about this boat. Thank you very much.

Marc Grove of Wefings in Florida sold one. I drove it in 2008. It was a good boat for what it is: an open boat with a t-top. Most of us here prefer the idea of a cabin.

In our home area (south Texas), the open, center console boats are by far the most popular.

Here's a link...

Marc may have more info on these unique C-Dorys.

Best wishes,

The boat will handle like most of the other 22' C Dorys. It will not be a high speed boat. I believe it is self bailing--something lacking in the cabin version of the 22's. It will be lighter. You will still want both trim tabs and permatrim to get the bow down in a chop. All of the C dorys are low deadrise boats.

In the Oregon area, there is a reason the 22 angler is a preferred boat--vs any open center console. I run a center console for fishing in the Gulf of Mexico; even in Calif. I prefer a cabin boat because of the colder water, and exposure to spray, which will occur in this type of boat when the wind and chop kicks u. The boat will be seaworthy as all of the C Dory's are.

You certainly want to do a sea trial in chop before buying the boat.

There is an actively working 22 Center Console C-Dory out of Hansville, WA. The OO's name is Noah, but that is all I can tell you about him. He says he uses that CD because it is economical and seaworthy. It is a commercial crabber, and might not win any beauty contest, but it gets him home every night.
