C-Dory Sightings

What appeared to be an older 22 northbound on SR in Lake Stevens on Friday evening. Didn't get a long look at is just went thru the intersection while we were at the light. Black trim.

Are the water levels better this year? They were pretty high the past couple of years. The dock at Horseshoe Island was pretty much completely submerged, and there was some flooding at the Fish Creek Ramps. Looking forward to a little more time in Door County this summer, and plan to be up there the week of June 13th. Colby

Water is lower this year but still above average. All ramps were open as far as I know.

Many places were still on short hours until last weekend when the tourist season started. For example, Wilson's closed at 5 PM. We boated down there only to be too late but the next day drove there and enjoyed cherry sundaes

It's been a few years since we have been there. Lots of changes including Al Johnson's expansion as well as new condos in downtown Sister Bay.

Had some rough water on the way back from Washington Island. Nothing that Emma Mae couldn't handle.

Cooler than normal temps. Big storm that went across the country from W to E had us pull the boat a day early and head home in the rain.

Life is good.

I was driving on I-5 northbound today in California and saw a C-Dory named “Carol Anne”. I think it’s a 22 cruiser with dark blue trim. Wonder if it’s a member.

There has been a C-Dory 22 Cruiser parked in the lot of Lifestyles Honda, a motor sports dealer in Mount Vernon, WA, for quite a long time now. Anybody know anything about this?

I saw a blue stripe, Angler 22 cross in front of the ferry at Kingston, Sunday about noon.. A 2 word name I couldn't read from the distance and no bow rails.

Took the family out for our first boat overnight of the year and ended up at Penrose State Park because of the rain. To my surprise, two C-Dorys were already here!

Out for a dinner cruise on Osprey this evening and a C-Dory Tomcat passed me, north bound on the Elizabeth River in Norfolk Harbor at Pinners Point. Didn't get a name, but always good to see other C-Dory's in my neck of the woods.

Hi John, Nice article with a well rounded discussion of the downsizing process and the attributes of the TomCat. Would be glad to welcome them to the C-BRATS fold. Wonder if they are still around, or were ever active here. The post-article note says "This article originally appeared in the December 2011 issue." of Soundings.

Hope they are still enjoying the advantages of the TC255. Love that boat name, "View Finder".

George Sass Sr., if you are here, check in and say "Howdy" and tell us how you are still doing with your TomCat.

My gut tells me this was probably not "Viewfinder". Viewfinder definitely had black Suzuki's. They are based in the North Chesapeake area, and don't trailer the boat themselves--have trailering hired out.

I had the Privilege of spending some time with George Sass Sr. and discussing the Tom Cat 255. He agreed with me that the tunnel needed to be 6" higher. (the hulls 6" deeper).

We flew into Ketchikan, AK Sept 1 to depart on the David B ‘Learn to Cruise the Inside Passage of BC’ on Sept 5.

We saw several C-Dorys in Bar Harbor, cool!

Safe travels!

John

Just came back from a week in the Apostle Islands. I think I found many of our midwest C-Dory's. There had to be a dozen of us up there! Met a few folks and saw several other boats as well. Even one of the employees at Madeline Island Yacht Club asked me if there was some C-Dory gathering going on, as she has seen quite a few recently. Anyway, it was a great week to be cruising the Apostle Islands! Colby

Took our C-Dory into Whelan's Marina for annual service on the new engine and they parked us right next to another one! Almost twins! Ours is on the left with the radar dome. There is a C-Dory called "Greybeard" in storage there as well.

Driving from Seattle to Utah, I saw two C-dory's on the freeway.

Got to talk to the owner of a 22'Cruiser in a rest area, headed to Arizona.

The other one was headed the other way.

You know you love a type of boat when just seeing one gives you a lift! And makes you want to talk to the folks!
