C-Dory Sightings

Around April 20 I will be leaving downtown Seattle with a 22' C-Dory on a single axle trailer headed for Anchorage, Ak.
It will be covered with a shrink wrap job which makes it look like a big white banana. 2nd trip to Alaska for this boat.
Give a toot or a wave when passing by.

Of the 5 boats I towed north 4 have been C-Dorys.

Happy Easter to all.

Dropped off the 25 yesterday at Performance Marine for an impeller service on the Suzuki. Noticed a red/white Tom Cat w/ tall arch and Raymarine radar and bottom paint being worked on. No name but it reminded my of Roger & Janet's ex boat.

I spotted C-Change (CD25) on Lake Washington Sunday. I was hanging out on a friends dock on the N. end of Mercer Island (half a mile south of the East Channel Bridge) and C-Change cruised right by.

Sam:

That was indeed Stacy and I taking C-Change out for a little spin on the lake on a beautiful day. I just finished installing the autopilot and was out for a bit of a sea trial. Sorry we did not connect, we would have loved to meet you and chatted a while. Hopefully we will have another opportunity.

Saw two 22s waiting for service at West Coast Marine. A red stripe with Johnson power and a green strip with Yamaha power. No names on the boats.

Not quite a CDory sighting, but a CDory captain sighting on t.v. We were watching Outdoor Idaho last night and Chuck (Two Bears) had some air time in a segment about the Lolo Trail. I think the episode was actually from a few years back.

It was a good day for reconnecting with CBrats. As Diana and I were heading east along the Columbia on I-84, I spotted a CD 25, it was none other than Jim and Joan, and Wild Blue. A quick call to say howdy and ask if he saw the Airstream blinking its lights like mad...

We're spending the night at Baker City, and had dinner with Jan Roach. It's been a year since George passed away, and the Lake Powell trip doesn't seem the same without them. Jan is well and active here in the community. It was great to see her.

From here, we're off to Lake Owyhee to scout it for a trip with the CDory, then down to Malheur for some camera fun with the spring migration of birds.

It was a treat to visit with you today! A nice surprise to get the phone call from you... next time, more than a "drive by"! :D

Best wishes,
Jim

Saw Jonathan and Brook in their un-named 22' today in Portsmouth VA. Their 3rd week underway from Florida on the Great Loop. They are "lurkers" here on C-Brats they said, but posting their trip on Facebook. They are headed to Cape Charles, VA; Onancock, VA; Tangier Island, and up to Baltimore. Have a good trip.

HI Tivo;
Long time no hear.

I went by the marina today and checked out Sea Angel after it was detailed. BOY does she look good!

Tomorrow we get her wet and take some runs around Lynnhaven Bay areas and the Ches. Bay Bridge Tunnel.

I hope to see you at the NC Visitor's Center again this year, next Friday.
I plan on bringing some bottled water for everyone and some ice cream. I don't know what else I will have room for, maybe my portable (MAGNUM) Grill and some watermelon.

Drove to the Marina today. It is the first day this year that it was above the 70s; 99degress on the apron/rack and 100+ in the boat. Have to get use to these new temps., summer is just around the corner.

After this last service, I found the mechanic set my idles to 800rpm. That may be good for the fuel injection 90HPs and the 135/150s, but these carb 90's seem to be better if set to 990-1000rpm in neutral (by the HONDA manual) and running with 'ears' on.

So, both 90's are now set to 900-1000rpm and then I drained all the carbs. I don't know exactly when I will be back to getting her in the water, since I have a committment that could keep me away for about a month.

Saw a C-Dory 19 coming out of the water at Comox today. Went and talked to the owners. They were so excited, this was their first couple of hours on the water in their new to them boat. The boat and trailer was immaculate. Turns out to be a 2008 model with only 50 hrs on it. Previous owner was an elderly gentleman who put the 50 hrs on but then stored it due to ill health.
I told the new owners about the fun we had at Friday Harbor, the gathering to come in Sidney, but more importantly the C-Brat site. They said they would check us out, so here's hoping they become family.

Martin.
