C-Dory Sightings

Passed a C-dory 22 between Hanksville Utah and the turn off to Bullfrog on Friday the 17th. We Passed each other at 120 mph so I wasn't able to tell who it was. Ok we were both going 60 mph. All I had time for was HEY THAT'S A C-DORY!!!
 
I returned from Baja to Lake Tahoe yesterday. Last week I found Ron and Ann with their C-Dory Meander in a trailer park in Puerto Escondido, Baja. They are having a great time. When we were at Mohave in March they were headed south to Baja. I found them :D and Ron cooked up a roast on his cobb. :thup They are love'n it, said to say "hi" to all.

I met another C-Brat in Prince George and had another chat.

Tonight we are in Teslin, Yukon after driving in a snow storm most of the day. 2 more days and we will be home in Anchorage.

It is neat to meet other C-Brats along the way on a trip.

Tonight in Tok, Alaska.

Broke the walking beam on the right spring set today on extremley rough roads. Found parts and a mech. to fix it.
On the road again.
Tomorrow we will be home in Anchorage.

Also I found the rub rail rivets came out on one side today so the rail is loose. I will bolt it when I get home.
 
Came across Bootleg Hootch today on Lake Washington. Had a nice chat with Chuck. Also on board was a young man who just bought a 16 footer and named it after his daughter, Olivia Rose. Both boats are Cabernet striped, which, for those of us from NJ, is dark red (although you cant tell from my poor photo.) Bootleg Hootch is really a beautiful 22 footer and those raised decals are very nice.

Thank you for the kind words. Was great to finaly meet you and Dottie in person. When we saw your boat tied up as we were launching this A.M. was wondering if we would see you out there. My buddy is all stoked up to get his 16 out on the water.

Happened to be by John Wayne Marina (Sequim, WA) and saw a black trimmed, 22 Angler, "FISHTRAP", at the launch dock. they were out for the opening day of halibut season, (along with enough other guys to fill the parking spaces of the whole marina) and had quit a day. Did a rescue and towed somebody into the marina (took about 2 hours) and then went out an lost an anchor, didn't catch any fish and had a trailer roller break on retrieval. Offered the owner a ride for some hardware parts, but he said he had it handled. he also said the boat is for sale, He has not had it long and I could not find it listed on the site but he did say he new about C-Brats). sorry, no price offered and on Chimicum, listed as a contact point.

I haven't seen this boat in person but there has been an ad for it on Alaska Craigslist off and on this spring. I thought folks might enjoy seeing the pic from the ad. It's an old school 27' bowpicker.

Sighted this morning , at the bridge municipal launch in Apalachicola [ten foot hole , as the local call it] by my lovely wife Anita whilst walking the dog, Sea Eagle . Thats Richard from Huntsville, Al. and we will most certainly be tipping one and shucking a few !

took my kayak through lake union the other day and poked around the house boats, saw two c-dorys tied up to house, nece set-ups folks...
 
On the way in to work Friday morning saw the 22 Cruiser "Mary Ellen" pulling into the gas station in Sequim. Suddenly we had to stop for gas. the owner was headed for fishing, Halibut I'd guess. Then on the way in to church this morning, say a blue 22 Hunky Dory going round the traffic circle on the Old Olympic Hiway.

Proving that you can play this game remotely and sight a West Coast C-Dory from the East Coast, I read the blog for Campbell Maritime, a small towing operation in Seattle which is always interesting and which always has a photo. Today's photo is of Westrac II but right next to it is a CD-16. Likely a Brat but I don't recognize the boat. Here is the link: http://www.campbellmaritime.com/cm/view ... ry_id=1306

While on our way home today from the Kenai Penninsula to Anchorage we saw 7 CD's in 75 miles.

A 16', a 22' Angler, a 25' turning onto the Whittier Road, a 22' cruiser, then a 22' that was aqua in color just like the Papillion from Fla.(it was real dirty, maybe from a long tow???), then a late model 22' cruiser and lastly a Tomcat.

The entire Seward Highway was a continuous trail of motorhomes, campers, 4 wheelers, snow machines, boats of all shapes/sizes and brands all heading south for the weekend.
We are glad we came to Anchorage for the weekend to miss all the crowd on the 1st nice weather weekend.

Just back from an unbelievably sunny 5-day cruise in SE AK (not on the C-Dory, on my buddies 23'Parker). Saw numerous C-Dorys out and about including one on anchor in Portage Bay outside Petersburg where we spent Friday eve. Also saw this one in the harbor in Petersburg on Friday...

There are now two other C-Dorys in HIlton Harbor in Bellingham besides Daydream - have not seen their owners, sure would like to. One is a CD22 Cruiser named "Lil Sweethaven," and the other is an unnamed CD16 Cruiser.
